I used the food processor, which I'd recommend, didn't use artichoke, otherwise followed Guy's recipe - but I cooked for 5 minutes per side and tented as I cooked, since it was dense enough that I didn't think it would heat in the middle. I formed the patties in the bottom of a 2 cup pan. Didn't wait quite 30 minutes before sauteing and they had a little crunch from the oats.
First of all, the texture is very meaty, and the color is sort of beefy. I don't need my veggie burger to taste like meat, but this does. (I think perhaps the chili powder predisposes us to think meat?) I topped with provolone, ketchup, a touch of mustard, and copley plaza hamburg relish. Put a little mayo on the bun. The flavor of the patty didn't clash with the toppings, and still retained it's own flavor.
I'm not fond of cumin and will eliminate it and the chili powder next time. flavacrisp says you can substitute different beans and flavors, so I'm eager to try that. Will use mushrooms and a little soy sauce next time, and more onions. The patty was a little dry. A few more veggies, another egg, or a T of oil might help.
Of the recipes I've tried and the offerings in the frozen food aisle this is the best veggie burger I've ever had.
