Instant Noodles/Ramen
Are there any instant noodles/ramen brands out there that aren't terrible for you? (and still taste good) We like Shin Bowls but the ingredients list is loooong for what amounts to a plastic bowl of dried noodles and spices.

My absolute favorite go-to brand is Mama Tom Yum flavor (I think it's from Thailand?), I get a whole box at the local Asian market. Spicy and delicious, especially if you want to drop an egg in or some veggies and bean sprouts.

I like Shin ramyun (I like the bags) too, though I try not to think about the amount of sodium when I eat it.
I think Chuka zanmai ramens use non-fried noodles, which are becoming the mainstream for instant ramen in Japan for better texture (and slightly healthier, as they are not deep-fried).
I add lots of vegetables to my ramen to make me feel better about eating it.

I just sort of accept that it's not healthy, but I think I like the exact same brand as chlamers...is that the one in the silver package?
I tend to drop a few frozen shrimp, a few drops of sesame oil, whatever veggies I have on hand, a chinese sausage (lap cheong?). Whatever's about, really.

Thai Kitchen is not bad for instant noodles - not ten thousand ingredients as you describe.

@Banana: Yep! The silvery shiny bag with red Thai writing on the front!! Oh so good.

Add a tin of anchovies to any ramen.I know for a fact that that makes it soooo much healthier !!!

I like the Mama brand of instant noodles as well. When I was in high school, I would open a package and snack on the dry, uncooked noodles as an afternoon snack. I've only eaten them this way with the ones in the orange bag - I think they are the pork flavored ones. Of course the noodles were just plainly flavored, but still rather yummy...hmm, maybe I should go rummage up some noodles right now!

Not as bad as a slice of pizza. I like eating them for lunch. However I usually only use half the bag of flavoring and will mix in some leftover proteins or veges from the nite before.
It's fun to eat fro .10cts/

I only have munchen and Top Ramen to choose from. I've rediscovered these recently. Easy to keep in the car for emergency rations where I work (not the same place every day). Great when I'm dead tired. I add some veg (especially cabbage), ginger and egg when I'm at home, eat with saltines. I'm a salt freak anyway, and this is probably better for me than a bag of potato chips.

i tend to hold off on the spice packet, using 1/3 to 1/2 of the spices, thinking thats where all the sodium is and adding flavoring of my own choice.

neoguri is it, and the japanese udon style that comes in a bowl is super good, pretty healty, and super fillling, RAMEN is my life, mmmmm

Most asian markets sell packaged steamed ramen (rather than fried). If I don't feel like using the spice packet, I mix up some chili oil, soy sauce, and maybe some furikake for the broth.
