Dear Gramercy Tavern: Thanks...

It was the day after Thanksgiving and there was a big birthday to be celebrated and someone real smart in our group had made a luncheon reservation at Gramercy Tavern in Manhattan. Well, as one of the guests (there were 5 of us with my granddaughter in tow), the bottom line is that this restaurant lived up to all the good I have read about it...Really!
We were seated in the rear at a lovely, spacious table. I was surprised to see so many diners here at 1 p.m. the day after turkey day, but I now understand why. The food was terrific and the staff, our baby at the table notwithstanding, was very gracious and available throughout...
I will not go thru the whole menu (we all ordered something different so that we could taste each dish), but my personal order came to: the house smoked salmon as an appetizer, followed by the farm raised roasted chicken with brussels sprouts and carrots. There was a thoughtful section to the lunch menu listing $25. bottles of wine...we totally enjoyed 3. And for dessert my peanut butter semi-freddo was wonderful! I should not leave out the decadent chocolate bread pudding with a candle that was placed before the birthday girl (all beautiful 60 years of her), nor the artisanal ice cream offered to the baby.
Danny Meyer and his organization are to be commended! I just had to share this in my family's behalf...
