What's up for dinner tonight? Thursday 10/15
It's in the 30's here, so a bit chilly and I have a sore throat and chest cold. Didn't feel like eating today, but now I'm hungry. We're having Asian Orange Chicken with jasmine rice and some sort of veg. I told myself that all that ginger, garlic and orange juice would be good for my cold and that the orange sauce would kind of be like a spicy cough syrup and coat my throat with soothing savory goodness. What's up with everyone else?

Pan seared T-bones, yukon gold potato and leek gratin, steamed broccoli and carrots with lemon butter.
Making a pot of turkey soup for soothing warmth this weekend. It's chilly here too and we're feeling under the weather.
Your Asian chicken sound delicious. Have a recipe to share?

@CJ McD--I got the Asian Chicken recipe from photograzing. It's based on a Cooks Illustrated recipe. The whole family loves it and sometimes it's challenging to please everyone, so hey no bickering tonight!

It is my son's birthday, so we had his favorite meal: bacon-wrapped filet mignon, green beans and mashed potatoes. I also added mushrooms sauteed with vermouth and roasted asparagus for the adults.

I had a grilled cheese on multi-grain Italian bread with sharp white cheddar, tomato and bacon. Also sauteed some spinach in a tiny bit of the bacon grease with red pepper flakes and salt. I've been craving spinach lately -- not sure if I'm low on iron or just need more veggies. Anyway, it was delicious!

I rocked dinner tonight. Curried apple soup, latkes with homemade applesauce and plain yogurt. Snap peas on the side-all washed down with apple juice with a tad o'ginger that I juiced this morning. (Picked 20 lbs. of apples on Monday...down to about 8-9 apples!).

Fried rice with fried Spam, crepe, mizuna, edamame, nametake (marinated enoki), bamboo shoots, laver, kamaboko, and 5 pieces of de-skinned leftover garlic chicken wing meat from husband's late night run to Donato's last night. He scarfed down the large pepperoni pizza himself.

everyone's meals sound so good! It's freeeezing here tonight. I crisped up some leftover brown rice in a pan with sesame oil, soy sauce and sriracha and then just heated up some leftover moo shu chicken in the same pan and sprinkled it all with cilantro and sesame seeds. I steamed some cauliflower to eat on the side but the white pepper that I refilled the grinder with and then ground onto the cauliflower had a horrible smell to it, so I couldn't eat the veggies. woops.

I nuked 4 pieces of bacon and drained the bacon grease into a little skillet where i fried 2 eggs. Nothing fries eggs like bacon grease!! Toasted a piece of oatmeal bread, buttered it (real, of course) and slathered on some blackberry jam that i got at a blue grass festival!! Made a very large cup of tea and sat down. Deelish!!

I peeled and cubed a butternut squash, roasted it and then mashed w/ salt, pepper and butter. Also had meatloaf and a green salad.

Tonight was fish share night, so I made fish chowder out of this week's hake. I made the fish stock for the chowder from frozen fish heads and bones from past weeks, white wine and saved veggie clippings. Turned out rich and delicious.

I left campus to go grocery shopping today, and went to a cafe nearby called My Daddy's Cheesecake. Apparently they have really good cheesecake. I did not try it today, but I will someday.
Instead, I got vegetable soup in a bread bowl, a pumpkin roll, and coffee.
For some reason, drizzly, cold fall weather makes me want to eat soup, pumpkin flavoured things, and apples all the time...
I am going to be cooking in my dorm again. I'll save what I make for tomorrow's "what's for dinner" thread ;)

I am late chiming in--long day.
For me just baked acorn squash from my recent haul with lots of butter and pepper. A cold apple and some leftover chapatis bread I had in the freezer. Simple, but awfully good after a long day. I hope to do some real cooking this weekend!
You all ate some tasty things!

Everyobody's dinner sounds so good...it was rainy today too so I made a pot of "lets clean out the veggie bin" soup...some of the veggies include carrots, parsnips, onions, cabbage, celery & potatoes --kinda boring, I know & tasted so...I may drain the liquid and fry it up to resemble a colcannon based dish....
More inspiring dishes this weekend...I'm gonna make fried chicken and butternut squash mac & cheese ...
