What Did You Eat Today?

I thought I'd ask because I had a particularly good food day today and I hope other Serious Eaters did as well.

I actually woke up early for once and had fresh figs from the farmer's market.

For lunch, I had some brie smeared on a baguette- it was heaven.

For dinner it was a greek-style orzo salad with zucchini, sundried tomatoes, capers, roasted bell peppers, grape tomatoes, fresh basil, feta, etc.,etc, and some grilled chicken.

Now, I'm eating homemade pumpkin bread with homemade honey butter and I couldn't be happier. I'm so glad fall is here.

For breakfast, I had a quickie packet of Indomie Mi goreng satay with kamaboko and wakame.

For lunch, I had leftover spaghetti and meatballs with garlic toast.

For dinner, we had leftover spaghetti and meatballs with garlic toast. I also had some leftover lazy dolmades from last night's snack.

For 1st dessert, I had Haagen Dazs ginger ice cream and butter pecan ice cream while watching Castle, one of very few shows I look forward to watching each week. Or maybe it was during Lie to Me.

For 2nd dessert an hour or so later, we had toast with peanut butter and 1/2 guava jam, 1/2 banana jam.

Pumpkin bread sounds good...

So wrong....since I cook all day my personal meals have all been deplorably sad lately. Lots of cold sandwiches and just nibbling at work as I cook.

I will have to get my fix vicariously thru all of you instead!

@Cassandra & sadiepix-aren't we just the early birds!

All the above sounds great-I never heard of Haagen Daz ginger ice cream...sounds good...

Today hasn't really started yet as it's 4 am and couldn't sleep...I'll work backwards from yesterday...last night--craving meat--made a steak with steamed broccoli and some applesauce..Pumpkin bread for dessert..I made 2 loaves on Sunday..

Lunch was "beans and greeens"--escarole and canneloni beans with olive oil, garlic and s&p and crushed red pepper flakes with a sprinkling of cheese on top..
Breakfast was a few fresh figs off the treee and a pomegranate...

Today-feeling like pancakes for dinner....I don't know what the rest of the day holds.....

We all seem to be in "pumpkin mode"

Pot roast it has finally cooled down here

Breakfast this morning was shredded wheat 'n bran w/ skim milk, coffee and water.

Lunch will be leftover chicken tikka masala, potato samosas and onion and spinach fritters (bhaji? pakora? one of those...).

Dinner will be cheeseburgers topped with fried eggs and oven roasted potatoes on the side.

I woke up late yesterday, because I had the day off (yay!) -- leftovers from Sunday's Thanksgiving dinner (Cornish game hen, mashed potatoes, gravy).

In between, loads of coffee...

For dinner, I made a soup from the bird carcasses -- added carrots, celery, onions and garlic. It was delicious! Dessert was a cup of Alden's mint chip ice cream.

Coffee and a Luna bar for breakfast. Salad with ham and cheese and vinagrette for lunch. Fun size Take 5 for snack. Panko-crusted chicken breast with a maple-mustard sauce for dinner.

12:30: Whole Wheat Rigatoni with Broccoli, Andouille sausage and spinach

Toast with laughing cow cheese

Chicken chow mai fun

Breakfast: English muffin with peanut butter & cranberry juice

Lunch: Homemade chicken noodle soup & a tasty little honeycrisp

Dinner: Threw together some whole wheat rotini with spinach, artichokes, sundried tomatoes and a light garlic cream sauce.

Hoping to finish up my homework soon and cap the night off with a mug of hot apple cider!

9:30: orange juice
12: granola bar
1:30: italian sub and barbeque chips
4: handful of frozen fruit- mango, strawberry, papaya, pineapple
6: bengal spice tea
9: red beans & rice w/ fresh tomato, lettuce, sour cream; chocolate chip coconut cookie with milk

A bit of chicken salad on crackers and a small scoop of large curd cottage cheese for brunch; cucumber wedges with a schmear of gorgonzola and roasted red peppers for a snack, a cube of swiss with a dab of dijon for another snack; and for dinner I'm ashamed to say that I gave into my husband who's been craving Velveeta and shells. I did thin out the plastic textured sauce with a bit of half and half, and the guys also had burgers while I had a big green salad. Tomorrow is another day.
