What Did You Eat Today?
I REALLY loved hearing about what everyone ate the other day. I wasn't expecting timelines, but I'm so happy I got them. I figure it's just a matter of time before someone says something nasty about these kids of posts, but I can't help myself; I really want to know ...
What did you eat today?
I wake up super late, so I'm just about to dig into my first meal of the day at 2:30 p.m. I'm indulging (yet again) in food from the local Mexican place, as cooking has been difficult to do lately. I'm going to have a carne asada burrito and I'm very excited about it.

I had a tuna sandwich. Just not very hungry for some reason. Maybe tonight's dinner will taste extra good.

Club sandwich and fries. Hit the spot!
erinlovestoeat at 5:34PM on 10/09/09
A few bites of penne pasta and cream stew before work at 5am, then a pumpkin latte around 6,finished the pasta for lunch at 9, and then birthday cake and chicken adobo at 10!
And now I'm hungry again (3pm). Prolly going to do a sandwich before my restaurant job tonight, and then be fed dinner at the end of my shift, 9:30ish. Whew.

Yogurt, an apple, and some toast for breakfast. A granola bar made by my friend when I was sitting in lecture for the 4th consecutive hour today. Some leftover spinach and pinto bean thing from last night for lunch, and a luna bar and an apple after my run. Dinner was roasted butternut squash with garam marsala with some miso white beans and kale on top. And then a waffle just because. Random....

Yes, you keep on going with this post, PumpkinBear..Re: for negative responses that you may get....There are many on this site that seem to like these types of posts and very few naysayers. I look at it this way, people who usually have something negative to say are usually looking for some kind of response. Ya know what I would do, ignore it & them! My feeling is that if they don't like it, they can feel free to either not read a particular post or go on another site...Period...
Now, I wasn't too hungry due to migraines...but I managed to eat some leftover chikarina soup that I made yesterday..
I plan on some sort of protein right now, like an egg or 2 and some toast...Sorry I can't be more exciting than this....

Today was my day off, so I slept in today. Hubby and I went to our local coffeehouse -- he had an iced latte and a grilled chicken sandwich, I had a tomato and carrot bisque soup with a hummus sandwich on sourdough bread.
Came home and had some Barry's tea with milk and sugar, and now I'm cooking mac and cheese for dinner.
avaryne at 6:49PM on 10/09/09
I had yogurt then leftover chicken riggies and then some grapes...about 3 hours apart each..I think I'm missing a few food groups..I even went to the commissary and spent almost $300 on groceries, and yet, I feel entirely uninspired.

Breakfast 1: rice cake with bean spread
Breakfast 2: Emergen-C, oat bran with 1/2 banana and almond milk
Lunch: vegetable curry with chickpeas, coffee
Snack 1: apple, tupperware full of chopped veggies
Snack 2: oat bran with almonds milk, other 1/2 banana, another rice cake
Dinner: TBD
When looking at what I eat, keep in mind that I bike 30 miles (two 15 mile trips) a day, so I need pre-breakfast and something carb-tastic before I head home.

I transmografied the best lunch. I had leftover sliced tomatoes, layered with fresh raw spinach, basil and some grated reggiano that didn't get finished as an appetizer. I dumped the whole thing in a saute pan, added a handful of leftover penne and YOW was it good.
Dinner was at Carrabbas. When BF gets that hankering for the sirloin (rare) with marsala, there's no stopping him...LOL.

I love these posts but they do make me question my eating habits. No breakfast. A banana around 11. I was very excited to go out to lunch with my son till I let him pick the restaurant. We went to said restaurant and had a nasty hot sandwich which led me to an afternoon (him too!) of being in bed feeling like I was going to hurl.
Had to go to reception at 5. One bite of cheese. Nasty chicken (at least that was what it was billed as) curry in the dining hall--2 bites. Came home and made baked potato followed by rootbeer float. No chocolate today which is pretty surprising.

@KarynMC-
What's for dinner, a slice of soy cheese and two carrots?
You sound so healthy, you are scaring me...
Just kidding...I bike a brisk 40-50 miles, 2-3 times a week myself, but I do enjoy my food. And, to read my own ramblings, so hear goes:
Bkfst: coffee on empty stomach (my bad)
Lunch: nuked leftover grilled cheddar-stuffed kielbasa and baked beans
Afternoon snack: sliced cold cuts eaten out of hand (cervelat salami, sharp cheddar, BBQ chicken), two sour pickles
Dinner: leftover matzo ball soup, breaded chicken cutlet, homemade applesauce, potato salad, Junior's raspberry swirl cheesecake, seltzer water
I sound fat, but I'm really not
salpico at 10:57PM on 10/09/09
reading these made me wonder what i'd eaten today, and couldn't remember until i started typing...
breakfast: cold leftover sweet potato that i had roasted with brown sugar and a cup of french vanilla coffee
lunch: salad from the salad bar at school, mixed greens with roasted cauliflower, mixed bean salad (the lady gave me extra so i'll be strong for school! love her), and cucumbers
dinner: a mango margarita and a vegetarian taco (rice and beans and toppings in a hard shell, with a flour tortilla spread with guacamole and wrapped around it...would never eat it normally, except they have it at this place that my flag football team goes to every friday, so it always ends up being what i get)
study snack: cup of organic mint tea sweetened with a touch of raw honey and some figs from my landlady's tree.
billyburgwife at 11:56PM on 10/09/09

I started my day by making a ginormous cafe au lait in my favorite mug. About an hour later I had some strawberry yogurt (stoneyfield?) and a whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter. About an hour later I had a honeycrisp apple. For lunch I had homemade chicken salad on a toasted croissant with bacon, tomato and melted muenster...and another cup of coffee. Sampled some late harvest muscats and vintage ports--I gift dessert wines to my aunts and uncles at Christmas. Dinner was leftover spicy Italian sausage with peppers and onions in red sauce with linguine. Should have made a salad, but way too lazy tonight.
Now,it's about midnight, sitting on the sofa, feet tucked under me, cozy throw on my lap (it's cold and rainy here) and my laptop next to me and eating a bar of Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate with a glass of a random red wine husband brought home.
wookie at 12:05AM on 10/10/09
oh yeah, I'll finish up the night with a cup of hot tea and honey...probably in an hour or so.
wookie at 12:08AM on 10/10/09
Woke up nineish. Had coffee and a couple of hours later I had a honeycrisp. About 3:30 I had half of a small avocado and a couple of pieces of toast. One buttered, one buttered and topped with cinnamon and sugar. About 8:30 I had a small bowl of chili. I made the chili today but I'm generally unhappy with it. I was able to make it edible by the addition of cayenne pepper, fresh chopped jalapenos and some of tillamook's finest cheddar grated on top. But still, I'm pissed off.
RegrettableFoodie at 2:13AM on 10/10/09
@ Regrettable---why are you pissed off? What is it that you don't like about your chili? Hot, sweet, tomatoey, too much or too little of what flavor?
dhorst at 2:54AM on 10/10/09
@salpico - Yesterday, it was actually a salad topped with sauteed veggies and chickpeas, followed by a another snack (herbal tea, mango and banana over panda puffs with coconut milk kefir). But the day before, my dinner was mostly beer. So I think it evens out.
KarynMC at 7:30AM on 10/10/09
Late night snack: 2 pieces of a large pepperoni pizza and chicken wings from Donato's while revisiting Catch-22 on film, one of my favorite books.
My disdain for wings is considerably greater than pizza. Donato's thin crust is the only pizza I'll touch. Not sure why I order chicken wings - I hate them. I *never* eat chicken skin, and the work put into eating the meat isn't worth my effort. Then there's the bile...buffalo...sauce. Yet I inevitably order wings once every 2 years and subject myself to the dirty (disgusted + unsatisfactory) feeling I get after eating one.

I missed the cutoff to reply properly to this post, but I did want to say that I love these type of posts!
Not only to hear of the neat/interesting things folks are cooking, but of sharing the guilt/laziness/indulgence of a PB&J night, a pig-out of ice cream or a cheese and cracker with wine movie night.
Keep asking Pumpkinbear--I love to know.

So to keep the thread alive...here it is the morning of 10/11 - just ate my 1/2 cup of cereal with 2 cups of coffee. Starts the day - it's a fiber thing.
Moving forward I see an omelet in about an hour.
A tuna sandwich for lunch.
Popcorn for mid afternoon / football snack.
A few martinis around 5:00 with a Roasted Chicken / Cauliflour w cheese sauce and some stuffed baked tomatoes for dinner.
Ribster at 9:03AM on 10/11/09

Hungover today, so I've had lots of water, a little gatorade, and brunch that my dad made for me: fried potatoes, green peppers and onions, sliced tomatoes, toast, and soy "sausage"- which is terrible. Now I'm thinking about making a burrito with mashed pinto beans, cheese, tomato, lettuce, sour cream and hot sauce.
Yesterday: black tea with sugar, cream, cardamom, cinnamon...fried egg sandwich (toasted multigrain, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, mayo) with a pickle. Then for dinner I had grilled chicken, grilled vegetables (eggplant, zucchini, red and green peppers, onion, and grape tomatoes, marinated in garlic, thyme, olive oil, s&p) and mediterranean orzo made with lemon, parsley, kalamata olives, and feta. I went out and drank lots of beer and ordered a HUGE plate of nachos supreme. In the late night I made farfalle with a pseudo-alfredo sauce for my friends, but I only had a couple bites.
Gweels at 4:10PM on 10/11/09
breakfast: Thera-Flu + splodge of agave syrup
lunch: bits and bobs from the fridge (coupla mushrooms, handful of spinach, half a shallot, bit of robiola bosina) mixed with eggs and cooked in a muffin tin with the remnants of a tube of crescent rolls
dinner: I'm tired after such an ambitious and unhealthy lunch, so probably some triscuits and tea. Dessert will probably be another Thera-Flu—that or a cup of Greek yogurt.
piglet at 4:33PM on 10/11/09
i am going to continue this thread...woke up and has some frosted shredded wheat as i wasn't going to watch football and have brunch for a few hours. brunch was a few too many beers and a huevos tostada (scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese topped with sour cream and guac). had a late afternoon snack of some skittles and a few pieces of spicy tuna and avocado roll. dinner was an asian inspired baked chicken thigh, cucumber salad and brown rice with peppers and onions.
pie22 at 10:14PM on 10/11/09
A quinoa quesadilla.
sorahatch at 11:35PM on 10/11/09
For 10/11:
"breakfast ramen" with an egg, broccoli, soy, sambal paste, thin slices of onion and zucchini
A bite of SO's chicken sandwich
Spaghetti with home made sauce and hot italian sausage- I made it, but it did not come out very wll. I thought I had a can of whole peeled tomatoes in the pantry, but I was wrong. Sauce was kind of smooth and one-dimensional, and I really don't care for italian sausage, but hey, it needed to be used, and SO will eat it.
The day in food started off pretty well, and just went down hill.
Kerosena at 11:39AM on 10/12/09
So far just a Jonagold apple and a Skinny Vanilla Latte. My teeth are really bugging me from those super-extra powerful Crest Whitestrips.
sweethunibabi at 11:46AM on 10/12/09
Today's been tasty but spectacularly unhealthy.
Breakfast: Two pieces of toast smeared with organic peanut butter with sweetened condensed milk.
Water and an Allegra
Lunch: What can only be translated into English as "Chicken Leg Rice"
It's white rice topped with a kind of pork ragu (no tomatoes), napa cabbage and pickled mustard greens. Crowning the whole thing is a deep fried chicken leg.
Salty, savory, greasy...so good...yet so bad.
