Stumptown coffee

Hello NYCers, Im headed your way this weekend and can't wait to slug down a cup of this top-shelf mud. Anyone been to Stumptown in Ace Hotel, yet?

yea i went a couple weeks ago. it was a good iced coffee, but nothing earth shattering.

Go for a macchiato. The place is really about espresso, not iced coffee.

It's good coffee. Very strong yet smooth and not at all bitter. I don't know if it's worth getting your knickers in a bunch for, but if you want a more learned opinion than mine, our own Allison Hemler visited Stumptown Coffee in the Ace Hotel recently:

This is not a shop to get coffee to-go and run to your job. You get here a half hour before you need to arrive to work, order your drink in porcelain, and either stand along the counter facing West 29th Street or relax in a chair in the hotel, and zone out for a few minutes. A morning to remember, and hopefully to repeat frequently, will cost you $3.80. A macchiato costs $2.80, with the extra dollar to the barista as extended gratitude for improving the quality of your day—an experience I've deemed routine-worthy, especially for those heading to or from Midtown.

They serve Stumptown at Momofuku Milk bar. I've had plenty of Stumptown here in Portland, but the milk they serve to go with the coffee just made it even better. Also, you can get candy bar pie here.

Literally just got back from finally checking it out (on my lunch break, about five blocks away). The cold brew is okay, but there's a taste in the coffee that I can't quite identify -- not quite bitter, but a tang that I'm not used to in iced coffee. I want to go back and try an espresso drink at some point, since that seems to be where their strengths lie.
