Slowcooker down and smell the roses!! Dinner Tuesday October 20th

Pulled pork with chiles and mexican seasoning in the slowcooker. In the meantime, make spanish rice put some on each plate--make an indent and put big scoop of pork in it. Add lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, shredded cheddar, onions and sour cream (we use plain yogurt). Good, and good for you--NOT.

Well I tried making challah today. I'm not much of a baker. It...looks good but it's kinda dense. Sounds like me. LOL

But I am trying! Oh...and Vegetable Soup.

Oven roasting a chicken between two cast-iron pans, with some brussels sprouts and a salad on the side.

If I can squeeze some time between finishing my midterm essay due tomorrow (I know, very last minute), I'd like to roast a chicken with garlic and rosemary, and serve it alongside roasted carrots, brussel sprouts, and potatoes.

Sigh...

I'm with you on the midterm blues, avaryne. I have two tests on Thursday that I am still not prepared for.

It's burgers and soup. I just ground the chuck and I'll reheat the cream of mushroom I made Sunday from portobellas and buttons with chicken stock and half & half.

midterms here too, i'd rather eat that peanut butter mayo burger than study for this calc exam.
BUT I'm giving myself a study break tonight and learning how to can/preserve! we're making pickled green beans with my slow foodie friends, very excited!

I'm making cheese sauce for leftover pasta, broccoli, and pan fried ham steak. Can you say comfort food for cold weather?

Yesterday it was "Quick Cooker" day -- pressure cooker beef stroganoff over egg noodles, with mixed veg on the side.

Hot, open faced turkey sandwiches - are these Hot Browns?
Made with the gravy-less turkey the hubster grilled on Sunday and the "gravy out of thin air" recommendations from the fabulous SE'ers.
With leftover roasted fennel from last night.

The excitement about the tray of baked ziti in the fridge is about the only thing keeping me going right now. Combo of homemade tomato and bechemel sauces and hunks if fresh mozz. Now if only I could leave work to go home and enjoy it!

I've been working non-stop since yesterday morning, so it's lazy night tonight. Roasted chicken-apple sausages, roasted brussel sprouts and spaghetti squash with chimichurri.

It's lazy because the sausage and squash are leftovers :)

Home made butternut squash macaroni and cheese and a big salad...

Stuffed baked potatoes, salad and garlic knots going on here. Tomorrow I may make some cupcake sized quiche with some of the leftover toppings from tonight and then throw them in the freezer for a quick dinner or weekend brunch.

Mini meatloafs for the carnivores...with sides of asparagus and mashed potatoes & gravy and a roasted, feta stuffed portabella for me

I love this!! Went to Panera all by myself and had cream of chicken and wild rice soup and half an asiago roast beef sammie. With chips and a drink and my name's Kathy. ;)
Came home and made chocolate chip cookies and ate 5.

arm1970...cute!!

Grandmas brisket recipe...i think my only recipe where I use a can of campbells (french onion). With potatoes, squash, carrots, and a salad.

And by the way, these posts always make me hungry or want to join certain other seriouseaters for dinner.

I'm in New Iberia, La tonight on vacation. We went to Avery Island where they make Tabasco sauce. It's a short tour that ends with chipotle flavored ice cream-rather good. Went to a local place and had a great dish of grouper/crab in a coconut curry sauce and sushi grade tuna in an incredible sauce and mashed potatoes and tasso. So tasty. I would live in LA if not for my cholesterol!

Vegetable-beef soup with the little alphabet pastas.

H1N1 hit our house over the weekend. Thought I finally had redeveloped an appetite for real food tonight. Got about halfway through making a chicken pot pie when I had to go lie down. DH finished the dish and said it turned out pretty good. Nevertheless, I stuck to water and a glass of cranberry juice.
