Predator Ad
What's up with the Blackberry ad that takes over the entire page as soon as I click any subject including clicking on the start talking button. It's not making me very fond of Blackberry.

So glad you put topic up. The poor crew at SE have had quite a a week, non?
I think this pretty much guarantees that no one who doesn't already have a blackberry will get one. Bizarre way to advertise.

Okay, I've spent my usual 20 minutes cruising around the site this morning, visiting home articles and talk topics, and I've had to click off the blackberry ad 29 times.

I didn't even notice it was there. If you use firefox, there's an extension called "Flashblocker" that keeps annoying adds like that from playing. Additionally, it'll keep videos from automatically playing on sites you visit. You can specify sites like Youtube to have flash turned on all the time so that you can still watch the clips.

@winternutt: Thanks. I use firefox and will pursue this.

Thanks @winternutt. I have been wondering how to do that on any cite I go to.

The funny thing is that when I clicked on this topic, I got the Blackberry ad...

I second or third (or whatever) the concern.
It's sort of ruining my SEating today.
@KateRuby: me 2 :P

We're still trying to work out all the kinks with these new display units. They seem to be most problematic in Safari. In other browsers, you shouldn't see them opening repeatedly except for on rollover.

@winternutt: thanks. I switched to firefox and just now I made it straight in to this topic. Looks like that was the fix for me.

@Alaina, I really understand the need for ads, but the problem with the rollover ads up top is that it's hard not to roll over them. When I switched topics, my cursor would be above it, and I'd have to go far left or right to go around it. And if I was below and wanted to switch tabs on explorer, I'd roll over it again.
It seems to be gone now, though.

That blackberry ad has tagged me a few times. I don't mind ads that sort of "exist" on the borders of the screen but the "drop down" ads are way too obtrusive. And BTW, I'm not being inspired to buy a Blackberry.
