praise for PBS
Just wanted to sing the praises of PBS... just discovered (although its probably been there for a while) WLIW in Long Island's "Create". They show Jacques, Julia, Lydia, interesting and thoughtful shows about wine, sprinkled with travel and decorating and gardening just to keep things fresh. Its lovely!

Here Here...I love Create...saw a chef I'd never seen yesterday, Nick Stellino...what a hoot he was. LOL.

Create is great. I can't stand some of their station's commercials though.
My husband knows which station commercial will be coming up based on the previous slide/commercial, and quickly changes it before he has to be subjected to it.

Create! I love some of the food shows, wish they did more. Ming, ATK, CC, Diary of a foodie, even the bittman/mario/GP show is good sometimes.
But damn, the ads! Dear Create, please please please shoots some new promos. Quit showing the exact same ads in the exact same sequence during every break. It's freaking me out. That's some Gitmo shit right there.
And what exactly is the deal with creeptastic P. Allen Smith and his garden home? (Where children are lost and never found.)
And "Learning to Sew with Stroked Out Lady"? Um... :(

The latest amazing PBS show "The Botany of Desire" left me breathless... It was wonderful and beautiful to see. Go PBS!!!

Our cable company, Comcast, removed Create from our line-up. Just one more reason for me to hate them.

Hubert Keller and Eric Ripert have shows on PBS as well. And there's America's Test Kitchen.
And I'm a PBS addict during the week for cartoons and Jim Lehrer's show.

My PBS station is always changing the lineup. It bugs me, especially when they remove one of my favs.
America's Test Kitchen is the only one they haven't messed with.

Because of our local cable company, our PBS programming is very limited.
And that's bummer. It's one of my favorite stations.

Comcast in Seattle is excellent--we get the Create channel and the usual PBS fare on KUOW. I love it, especially Baking with Julia.

sailordave - um what's your problem with sewing with Nancy? She's extremely competent, teaches well, and has been doing this for years. Can't imagine why you would actually have a problem with her.

@lemonfair I'm gonna stay in my corner for this one, thanks.

Good call, sailordave.
Calling her a "stroked out old lady" was tacky, to say the least.
I like the new Ruth Reichl show, Adventures with Ruth.
And Eric Ripert's new show.
Hubert Keller drives me crazy though... He needs to edit the words "really", "actually", and "nice" from his vocabulary.
REALLY. Actually, really. That would be nice. :)
I just wish they wouldn't keep showing the same repeats of all the other shows.
I found Spain..on the Road Again to be obnoxiously pretentious and unwatchable, and this from somebody who LOVES Mario and Bittman.
