Pizza: A cure for the blues?

Perhaps it's because it's rainy and cool here, or maybe the fact that he turned 45 last night and the kids did nothing but bicker through out dinner, or maybe that he has to work all weekend, but for whatever reason my husband is feeling blue. Not mad, not grumpy, just blue. I mentioned that it's pizza night. A spark, a little grin, the man loves his pizza...he'll be deciding just what he wants on his pizza and what kind of pizza he would like through out the day. I'll make it every night this weekend if it helps to cheer him up. So what do ya say SE folks? Does pizza cheer you up? What is it about pizza that seems to comfort you? What other food lifts your mood?

Pizza Friday! Pizza is just like Guinness, it cures everything.

Who can wear a frown while eating pizza? It's humanly impossible, I tell you.

Pizza DEFINITELY cheers me up. Hope your hubs is perky again soon. If he's depressed about his birthday - tell him to consider the alternative...Not having anymore.

Yes definitely pizza and ice cream.

Pizza always makes me happier. ^__^

Yes! Pizza always makes me feel better!

Without a doubt!!! Nothing I crave more when I am down! Although I enjoy it just as much when I am happy.

Never thought about it before, but you're right. If someone says, "Let's order pizza!!", everyone jumps up to get the yellow pages and they're all talking at once about the toppings they want!! All of a sudden it's a party!!

I agree with everyone here - pizza is definitely the cure for whatever ails you! :-)

For my bf for sure. I overdosed on free pizza during grad school, so not so much.

I don't like pizza.

I have an eggplant, some zucchini and mushrooms that I have to absolutely positively do something with today or else they'll be compost tomorrow (and the DIL I live with will be writing about me on the thread about looking in other people's refrigerators). We're having ratatouille pizzas tonight--one with sausage, one without.

The one thing no one in our house has ever said is, "Pizza? Again???"

"Blue" and "pizza" just aren't a good combination, are they?

Is it just me, or does this page load up kinda funky?

I loads quickly and as usual for me... ?

It's not always a cure-all for me, but the RIGHT pizza can totally pick me up though. I won't settle for mediocre pizza. If I'm going to be bad (diet-wise) it better be worth it.

Pizza is a powerful food. It has the power to create and destroy. Don't think so? Get a bad pizza.

Pizza makes me feel like a little kid again. I *love* a good slice on a crappy day.

Think of an overworked office pulling a late night. Delivery man shows up with pizzas? All is right again in the world.

I don't think its the pizza, I think its the beer I wash it down with that does the job. Tonight it will be a couple of Sam Adams Octoberfests.

Pizza, red wine, chocolate. Repeat as necessary.

@finewinedine - even though i am happily married...i love you. For all i know you are a man, woman or a piece of wood it doesnt matter, we are a match

@finewinedine & BiereBeer- get a room:-)

@cassaendra--It loads up funky cause you don't like pizza. :)

It's only that first triangular bite of melted cheese that cheers me up. Then after, I feel guilt. Not for the calories, but that I didn't cook something more interesting - it's cooking something challenging that really takes my mind off trouble.

For me, I think it's because it's essentially a baked bread and baked bread is always awesome to lift spirits.

I think you're sweet, dhorst. That's love.

And I don't get why some douchbags say "I don't like pizza" -- why bother commenting then, unless you're a total attention whore?

Just do it up, dhorst. Pizza cheers me up too, and if it made me grin -- well, go for it.

I meant "if it made HIM grin" -- my apologies

Great idea dmcavanagh! Who wants to join me and BiereBeer in a big room with acres of pizza, vats of red wine, and chocolate as far as the eye can see?

;-)

to all--it worked last night, so it's pizza all weekend long here--BYOB (I'll be drinking Chard) and we'll do it up with whatever toppings you want...just try not to upset dmcavanagh with anything too unconventional :-) (it will be a feta and asparagus free weekend--meatballs are allowed).

@dhorst-Hey, thanks for thinking of me. My favorite unconventional pizza is sausage, roasted red peppers and smoked mozz. Take a walk on the wild side:-)

I think my love for pizza is based on the same thing as my love for snow. As a child it meant less school, either school was out (snow) or it was Friday (pizza).

My favorite pizza to order so far is onion, garlic, green peppers, and eggplant.

Big pizza fans here. Sweet Italian sausage, mushrooms, tomato, onions.

But for me personally, my cheap-o order-out comfort food is Chinese take-out. I even light the candles on the table for it.

Happy Birthday! Pizza was always a treat for us in the 60's. We might have had it three times a year. Now a days it's like a staple and I just don't get that excited about it anymore. But enjoy.

I am not a big pizza person anymore, but as a kid, sometimes if we were 'good' we would have pizza parties in school. Those were the best! As a kid, color me happy with a slice of 'za, a cupcake, and a festive paper plate.

"I'll make it every night this weekend if it helps to cheer him up."

Where have you been all my life, dhorst?

dhorst Fan Club in the making.

pizza - one of the best foods in the whole world... straight cheese pizza with a great doughy crust always does it for me.
