Pages rolling down then up.... Make it stop

I think it's that ShineaLight banner doing it... and it is horribly annoying. Please turn that thing off. Thank you!

I thought it was my computer. I hate it.

I was curious how long it would take for someone to post on it -- didn't post, since I was positive someone would post on it. :P

...Or you could just get an ad blocker for your browser.

yep, it's happening to me too
wtf??

I have an ad blocker so that can't be it.

@caramel - If I use SafariBlock, the ad is only moved to the right side of the window and the opening/collapsing still happens, but if I use PithHelmet no such thing happens. You just need a better ad blocker.

Hey folks, thanks for reporting this. This ad unit shouldn't be rolling up and down repeatedly, we'll get this fixed ASAP. When it does happens, is the ad under the orange logo section of the top of the page, or is it out to the right of the page?

It's a 970x66 banner, but it's sitting out to the right of the page, instead of its proper location underneath the orange logo section.

I know these new OPA pushdown units are popular (I've made a few at work) - and you can specifically require them to only open on interaction... not automatically.

As far as the people using adblockers... sites like this are free because of advertising. Please don't block the ads on your favorite free sites.

Nice to know I won't have this problem when I get home, since NoScripts with handle it. But, yeah, on my work computer I'm having the same weird scrolling up and down issue. I was paranoid and thought the IT department had hijacked my computer for not visiting a "work-related" site!

@squeezebottle - it doesn't have anything to do with my ad blocker.

@Alaina - I see an ad for shinealight both under the orange SE logo and off to the middle right of the page.

I have an adblocker and I see nothing.

@stratusgd - I agree that advertising on the web is a necessary evil and I support it in theory, but it has become so obnoxious that I just can't surf without an ad blocker anymore. If I had to put up with all the loud and intrusive advertisements that are now all over the web, I would stop frequenting commercial sites altogether.

But just to play nice, I promise that once a week I'll turn off the blocker and click a few ads on this site.

We've switched out the creative so it shouldn't be expanding anymore, and we're troubleshooting the placement issue. Thanks for your patience!
