Non-Traditional Vegas Dining
I'm heading to Las Vegas next weekend and I'd love some "off the beaten path" recommendations for restaurants. Last time we were there we ate at some really amazing restaurants (on the strip) but the food and prices really don't compare to what I'm used to having at home in Portland, Oregon. Does anyone have any suggestions for simple, delicious, maybe even farm-to-table spots with great wine or beer pairings?

I'd recommend Hash House-a-Go-Go. It's waaay off the beaten path thought it's been visited by Martha, Dr. Phil et al. I'd been to the one in San Diego numerous times so dragged my family to this outpost that is nowhere near the strip. The food is excellent and abundant!

One of our family favorites is Battista's Hole in the Wall http://www.battistaslasvegas.com/index.html
It's in a strip mall near the Flamingo Hilton, doesn't look like much but serves some of the best Italian food we've eaten. It's definitely old time Vegas but that's part of the reason we love it so much. I don't know if he's still there but they have/had an older gentleman accordion player who knows just about every song made. He even knew the fight song for our precious Ohio State Buckeyes!
Enjoy your trip!
