Michel's Baguette?
I ended up hearing about Michel's Baguette through work. I understand they're located in Canada and according to what I've heard, they have really healthy, good food- aside from their pastries, I guess.
Have any Serious Eaters tried this place? Is it a chain, like McDonalds? Is it tasty and if so, why don't we have places like this in America?

It's really generic and not awful, but not fantastic either. Sandwiches, Campbell soups, Van Houtte coffee, the pastries.....kind of like the stuff they serve through centralized catering services but somewhat better (the pastries ARE pretty good). Not actively bad for you, but not 'really healthy' either by any stretch. I think it's a chain but I've only ever seen one location in particular.
I dunno, my impression of it was always that it catered to people who liked the idea of a patisserie but didn't actually know how to recognize one...or who just didn't want to go the full-out fast food route. So, given that, you tell me....are there places like that in America? I'd think so?
If anything would catch on south of the border, I think Tim Hortons would be the one...it's the same idea as Michel's (same sorts of items offered) but cheaper and already franchising like whoa.
