Kiss the Cook!! What's for dinner Thursday Oct. 29th?

I am making pad thai and some chicken coconut soup along with a platter of raw vegetables. Seeing these posts makes me realize that I need to expand on my vegetable cookery--the people really love raw veggies and I get so lazy that I always resort to that presentation. Dessert will again be Halloween treats that I will sneak. GO PHILLIES!!!

Was going to make cheesesteaks but will wait till later in the series when we need good Philly karma!!

I power cook thurs and fri (for the whole weekend)
So tonight and tomorrow, breaded tilapia with lime, roasted cauliflower, broccoli rabe, cous cous, roasted chicken, mashed taters, string beans, eggplant parm.
We have Phillies Tickets for Sunday.

I was just trying to figure out what I possibly can make at home to avoid having to order in (fresh foods are at critical low) ... read yesterday's "what's for dinner entry" and was inspired! I have salmon in the pantry so I will be having salmon cakes and roasted broccoli.

Can't wait to get home now !

pork chops, string beans, homemade applesauce and some good quality chocolate for dessert..

pan-fried green beans, carrots, water chestnuts along with a baked chicken breast....don't know what kind of seasonings I'm going to go with yet.....hmmmm...

@jerzee: AW MAN. can I have some? that sounds terrific.

Pretzel crusted chicken strips, four cheese garlic mashed potatoes, green salad and homemade rolls. I just bought a couple of giant candybars for a fundraiser so I'll let the wolves fight over them for dessert.

I'm getting experimental tonight though I've been inspired by various blogs lately. I'm going to make
1) cauliflower/jerusalem artichoke puree (winging it so perhaps with kohlrabi?) inspired by a sunchoke soup at Chocolate & Zucchini
2) oven braised green beans from the Naptime Chef's potluck blog mentioned by Dorie Greenspan
3) Breaded and fried turkey cutlets inspired by Steamy Kitchen's blog mentioning the pioneer woman's fried chicken.

I haven't decided yet - either meatloaf or chicken curry.... only, I just now realised that I don't have any potatoes for meatloaf or rice for curry. And I just got back from the supermarket, too. Dang.

Back to the drawing board, I guess.

enchiladas especiales tacuba is the last real dinner left on my menu for the week. But. We've got a houseguest who we are taking out to happy hour after I get off work, so we may end up deferring to grabbing something downtown instead ...

Garlic rubbed bison ribeye with a scallop and pea bechemel.

I just put togeather a meatloaf that I am going to top with my BBQ sauce. I have some broccoli I will steam and make a cheese sauce to go on top.

i bought some Pacific creamy butternut squash soup, and was sorely dissapointed. I hate to waste food but it does NOT taste like butternut. I had apples with almond butter for dinner instead.

Making baklava for an upcoming party. So, lots of nut-grinding and buttering and layering... the actual dinner will be an afterthought.

I made a caramelized Vidalia onion soup with Emmenthal cheese, and a Granny Smith walnut streusel deep-dish apple pie.

Phillies party: hoagies and roast pork sandwiches with garlicky sauteed spinach and roasted reds. Cookies for dessert. GO PHILLIES!!!!!

Clean the fridge quiche-- A good pate brisee crust, baked up a bit ahead, and then anything chopped smallish and put into egg custard with a grated cheese topping rocks! Bacon, sauteed mushrooms, carrot & squash strings. Too fine.

Used up the last of the salmon and basil pesto. Pan seared salmon with basil pesto. Tomato, cucumber, earl grey couscous. Garlic roasted potatoes with parmesan.

I was still full from a belated bday party at work that was held for me and a couple other ppl that one of my coworkers brought in. I ate pumpkin pie, chocolate cake, apple caramel pie, a cupcake, Chex mix, Edy's vanilla ice cream, chocolate mints, and apple juice.

South Indian tonight: Curd Rice with Garlic Pickle and fried okra with salt and mirchi. Yummy and totally stomach-soothing (except for the mirchi!)

Polenta smothered in a tasty red sauce brimming with veggies and hot italian sausage. My first homemade polenta effort--not nearly as scary as I thought it might be!

Marinated flank steak, garlic/parm smashed potatos, broc w/hollandaise sauce and butter rolls. I had to make the steak in the oven but I really would have liked to have grilled it, I marinated it overnight with a vinegar base marinade hoping this would tenderize it more.

It was my birthday yesterday, so I made pizza. Four-cheese pizza, with mozz, dolce-latte, parmesan and smoked gruyere with sauteed chestnut mushrooms and roughly-chopped tomatoes, garlic, onions and peppers, on a thick whole-grain crust.

Washed down with lots of beer. Lots. The wife got to put the kids to bed last night (usually my job...I am generally considered better at story reading). I was busy watching action films and eating chocolate. Priorities, people. Although the card my son made for me must have contained some sort of allergen, as my eyes started to mist up...

@ NotAmerican--Happy Birthday! Your pizza sounds awesome; definitely something my husband would love. And he certainly knows about those homemade cards with allergens. Once again, Happy Birthday!

Pasta Carbonara--one of my favorite quick dishes. Takes only about as long as it takes for the pasta to cook!

We had curried butternut squash and red lentil soup.
For dessert, cinnamon and sugar roasted spaghetti squash seeds. I roasted the squash last night in prep for tonight's dinner and I couldn't bear to throw the seeds away!

@ NotAmerican- happy belated!

steamed shrimp with onion-herb flatbread

spinach quiche (smitten kitchen recipe) with a side of roasted delicata squash, and a few squares of sea salted chocolate for dessert.

sesame-crusted salmon with arugula, corn and some super expensive end-of-season tomatoes (I live in TX, summer just ended)
