It Works..!
With great patience I awaited the message from the SE team regarding how to fix the log-in issues and re-entry to the seamless "Talk" mode.
...Followed the directions; cleared cache and cookies, and now everything is back to smooth sailing. Thanks SE.

That's working for me too now, but i still can't access my favorites, response to comments or any other tab under my profile :(

Yippee! Finally, it works for me.
I read the directions for clearing everything late last night and put it off until today, but when I came to the SE home page, it remembered me from yesterday--didn't have to log in, I could comment right away and everything was back to normal.
