Greatest Pizza Box Ever Designed: No need to waste!

so seriously green :D
Check out the new Green Box eaters!
I thought it was worth sharing with my eatin' peeps here at SE!~

    This guy will be a millionaire in no time. William Walsh, 42, has created a new pizza box known as the Green Box. He believes that it will change the way we eat pizza and be used universally by restaurants.

    The top of the 'Green Box' breaks down into convenient serving plates, eliminating the need for disposable plates. The remainder of the box converts easily into a handy storage container, eliminating the need for plastic wrap, tin foil or plastic bags. It's also 100% recyclable.

Pretty Neat?!
I'm on-board its clever :) what do you think?

Totally Neat. I like that conversion to a storage box feature.

It certainly is a neat idea, but I don't see a big advantage over using plates and tupperware. And my city does not accept soiled cardboard in the recycling bin, so for me it's not recyclable. If this guy went on Dragon's Den (Shark Tank for you Yanks) with this idea, I'm pretty certain he would go home empty handed.

@squeeze: Interesting I hadn't thought of the Dragons' Den!
I don't know if it's even just the "plates" as a benefit; but even the conversion storage Idea.

also

I personally INSTANTLY thought of a group of my girlfriends;
in the summer time;
after a night of clubbin' and *growl* the pizza-cravings begin!

We tend to linger around outside so I could see the concept useful if you're not at home kinda-thing. Like picnic-ing even?
Especially after a fRew MerTinis this might come in handy!

Don't you still throw the box out after you eat the pizza????

@finsbigfan: it's cardboard. You recycle it :)

@squeezebottle is right -- since you can't recycle the oily cardboard you're still throwing it away anyways. i guess it saves four paper plates if you aren't serving pizza on ceramic plates....

Most recycling companies do not accept pizza boxes for recycling because they're too greasy.

sometimes a pizza box is pretty clean with minimal or no grease stains (depending on your pizza).
If that's the case, they'll happily take it.
If you have dried up mozzarella glued to the lid of the box,
they'd ask you to rip that half of the box off and give them the good half.
Let the compost bin or the trash can have the greasy lid. Its corrogated or whatever so it can go in the compost I think.

If there are just crust-crumbs and some red sauce, its pretty easy to just wipe the surface off before you toss it in the recycling bin.

APPARENTLY, please be careful not to leave your dried up, uneaten pizza inside the box. they'd love to share your pizza with you, but (like anybody) they like theirs fresh and preferably not delivered in a recycling bin. LOL

@hungrychristel Our city recycling does not take greasy pizza boxes.

@finsbigfan - okay I'm sorry I thought I read that you said "most"

I guess it depends on who's eating the pizza - if you're in a college dorm and you don't have plate, this would eliminate the need to use a paper plate.

I love it that the pizza slices start disappearing toward the end.

people in college have been doing that for years. mind you, also ate it without plates if we didnt care about where we were. its nice that he is perforating it, but no impressive feat. if you cant tear apart a pizza box, and you are at home, most people have scissors.

I'm a bigger fan of the storage aspect than the plates aspect. We always have leftovers, the full-sized box is impossibe to fit in our too-full frig, and it the tapering height would help cut down on the air in the box that dries out my pizza.

Dumb.

1. There's food and/or grease attached. Fail.

2. Anything less than airtight will cause the leftover pizza to dry out. Some might like that -- I don't.

3. Use real plates. They can be washed with a minimal amount of water.

Just another gimmick preying on peeps who want to feel better about themselves. Sad.

tmj529 - i think your comment is pretty sad. You obviously didn't read into it.
