Dinner in Philly
I'll be in Philly tomorrow. I'd like to have a really delicious meal, preferably nice but not too pricey (I'd like to keep it in the $25 neighborhood, or lower). Any ideas, Philly Serious Eaters?

Check out my restaurant reviews: http://worstvegetarianever.blogspot.com/search/label/Restaurant%20Review
Other good places: RX, London Grill, Jones, Rembrandt's, National Mechanics, Monks... I'm sure I'm leaving out tons of great ones though.

Where will you be visiting and what kind of food do you prefer? A reasonable Italian dinner would be at La Viola on 16th. A great sushi place is Zento in Old City. There are Mexican places in the Italian section of the city. Silk City Diner is in N. Libs section (kind of) Great and reasonable Chinese is at Lee How Fook on 10th in the Chinatown section. New American might be Chloe's on Arch St. There's always the Reading Terminal Market. Have a great visit!

I'm drawing a blank for anything within your price range, but if you're willing to spend a little extra, you can't go wrong with Farmicia Restaurant in Old City. My husband and I willingly brave the Schuylkill Expressway just to eat here.

This might be a good place to start your search. It's a big city so it all depends on where you're headed.
Monks is indeed really really good. They have great mussels but lots of vegetarian options as well. And a person could eat really well for about $25.
Old City has lots of great restaurants, but it might be a bad idea since tomorrow night is First Friday. Parking will be nearly impossible and driving will be insane because there'll be swarms of people walking around for free (and good) art. But if you want a great dessert, Franklin Fountain is down there and they have root beer that will change your life (ok maybe not, but it's really delicious). So you might want to plan parking/public transportation if you're heading in that direction.

Manayunk a section of philadelphia across city ave has a bunch of reasonably priced restaurants. There are great italian and greek places. Most importantly my favorite thai...its a cute little area a strip of bars and restaurants. If you want to stay towards center city check out walnut street and see what place strikes you. My favs in center city are marathon grill, devils alley, el vez, and alma de cuba.

Melograno on Sansom between 20th and 21st for Italian. (A personal fav BYO)
Good Dog on 15th between Walnut and Locust for pub fare. (There is a review of the burger in AHT)
Distrito at the corner of 40th and Chestnut for Mexican tapas. (The head chef Jose Garces is competing on this season of Next Iron Chef)
Those are a few places I would be considering if I was in that price range.

Victor Cafe is a wonderful place in Philadelphia. Not only is the Italian food delicious the wait staff transforms before your eyes. Last time I went our fairly shy, quite large, plain looking waiter rang a bell and became the most handsome man in the room. The wait staff sing opera. It is an amazing experience-both in eating and the listening!

I don't live there anymore and don't know much about the restaurant scene, but I visit relatives there on occasion, and I totally second PoorOldMama's recommendation of Victor Cafe. The walls are lined with autographed photos from opera and other celebrities who have dined there over the restaurant's many decades of existence. Pavarotti reportedly consumed two whole chickens! It's old school, wonderful, and unique.
