"Date night" lunch on Friday
Hey SE-ers -
My husband is working weekends for the next couple of months, so our "date night" (without our baby) is now going to be Friday lunch. Where have you been for lunch in NYC that you've absolutely loved? Doesn't have to be fancy (though it's ok if it is) -- we just love great food, and we're pretty adventurous eaters. We live in Brooklyn but would go just about anywhere (well, probably not Staten Island, sorry...). Thanks!

go to eleven madison park for an extra special treat! yes, for lunch it's pricey - but the service is lovely and the food phenomenal. It's a great deal at $28 for a 2 course pre fixe lunch. (remember: this is relative!). That also includes an amuse bouche and great warm bread. Enjoy!

Mookie has a great idea. I reviewed eleven madison park's lunch deal a couple of weeks ago. jean-georges also has the same lunch deal as well. In Brooklyn I really like Char No. 4's Friday-only lunch menu. My review of it is going up tonight.

If you can go for a later lunch, I liked Otto (but I dislike crowds, hence the reason I say lunch later). My friend and I had an awesome date - pasta alla norma, pizza, and of course the olive oil gelato (recommended as Serious eats as the best gelato in nyc. Can I be honest and say that was my reason for going there?) I just like eating late lunches in the west village.

i totally second eleven madison park, and also tabla (which is located on the opposite side of the CSFB building. les halles is also nearby, and has delicious steak frites. cafe con leche has two locations on the upper west side for great cuban. dae dong and woo lae ok in k-town for great korean bbq, joe's shanghai in c-town for delicious soup dumplings. and friend of a farmer has great homecooking on irving place.

Al di La in Park Slope would be a perfect "date night" lunch, I think. I also love Stone Park Cafe (same hood).

For a less pricey dinner date out, but still charming, I love Frankies Spuntino for house-made pastas. Lunch is even better (except the weekends of course) because there is less of a crowd. I love going there on days I don't have work. There is one in Carrol Gardens, but I go to the Clinton Street location only because it's closer to me.

Hey everyone - a belated thanks for your help! So far we've been to David Burke Townhouse (very good) and going to Eleven Madison Park on Friday. You've given us some great ideas for future lunches too -- thanks so much!!
