Copper platter for salad?
I don't remember anything from high school science class. If I put a vinaigrette-dressed salad on a copper platter am I going to wreck either the food or the platter? Would a piece of parchment paper as a liner protect the salad if it sat on the platter for an hour or so?

To Vinegar cleans copper, but most believe you should never put acidic substance on it that you are going to eat.

Why not use it as a charger and place a clear plate on top of it for the salad.

I wouldn't do it:
"Copper Utensils with copper interiors should never be used for acidic foods, with pH of 6.0 or below, since toxic compounds can form if food is cooked, stored or served from such containers. I can see where it's probably a show stopper presentation wise, so I'd go with CJ McD's suggestion and use it as a charger.

Don't Do It!! Use it as a charger only. Never let foods, especially acidic foods touch copper.

Ok. Thanks all. I'll come up with Plan B. (Can't use it as a charger -- it's large and rectangular; I need something pretty big.)
