Cold fried chicken better than hot?

I made a batch of delicious fried chicken last week and I've found myself enjoying it more cold than hot as I eat off the rest.

Maybe it's just a novelty because I rarely have fried chicken leftover to put in the fridge and eat cold later, but I'm really digging the cold fried chicken right now.

Oh I love fried chicken cold - makes it a perfect picnic food!

Cold fried chicken and colder beer. A match made in heaven.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again until it's no longer true: Popeye's
makes better fried chicken than I do, but I keep trying. No matter which recipe I use or which cooking method I employ, my fried chicken is just barely okay. I don't know the science of it, but my okay hot fried chicken turns into really good cold fried chicken--how does that happen?

I love it when I find yesterday's fried chicken on sale at the market for $2.50. We'll snack on the bony pieces and use the breasts and thighs to make fruity fried chicken salad with halved green and red grapes, celery, green onion, pineapple or apple and toasted walnuts with mayo, and stuff it into half a pita.

I like fried chicken hot. The crust is never as crispy after it's been in the fridge, IMHO.

i like cold fried chicken better than hot. I think its just absolutely delicious.

fresh hot fried chicken is best. cold fried chicken is better than reheated hot fried chicken.

We eat it hot and if there are any leftovers, they are eaten cold right out of the fridge. Both taste great, but reheated fried chicken doesn't taste very good.

Hot, crispy, delicious.

I prefer it hot. I agree with @juliebugsmama that it loses it's crispiness. I do, however love the idea of fried chicken at a picnic, but it depends on the seasoning.

Oh yeah, reheated fried chicken is crap.

If I can only choose one for the rest of my life, I'll opt for the hot and crispy. That said, I have very fond memories of childhood picnics where cold fried chicken and potato salad was the featured menu items (both of which are deemed deadly now).
My most vivid remembrance of said picnic fare was chicken pieces dipped in a light batter and rolled in sesame seeds before being fried and chilled. Today I strive to emulate Edna Lewis' fried chicken, served hot and crispy..!

I adore it cold. My mom used to make a gigantic batch of fried chicken and I loved nothing more than waking up the next day, grabbing a cold piece out of the refrigerator and eating it, just standing right there over the counter. Mmmm.

Hot is hands-down better. Cold fried chicken needs to have a nice thick layer of fry on it to be good the second day. Otherwise it's like eating congealed fat :(

I have a fond place in my heart for cold fried chicken (I agree it needs a thick layer of fry). I've only ever eaten it cold out of the fridge in the middle of the night. I've never curled up on a couch in the middle of the night with hot fried chicken, only cold - which probably explains my warm and fuzzy feeling toward it.
