Cobble Hill Eats...
I have recently moved to Cobble Hill all the way from Alabama. The neighborhood is great with a lot of restaurants, etc. There's lots of buzz around certain eateries, but I was wondering what are the good staples in the neighborhood. I'm a student but am willing to spend a little more money on a nice meal every once in a while. I'm also a big fan of sweets. Can you share any info?

Try t Peter's Waterfront Ale House - Great food - good bar and one of the owners is a CIA trained chef. Great BBQ and other food ideas come out of that kitchen. Also a chips shop where the deep fried twinkie was born.. Veddy English. Both on Atlantic Avenue same side of the street. Spices abound at Sahadi's just one block away with a Trader Joe up the street.. Smith Street and Court Street have some of the best dining in the City without the prices and long reservation times of Manhattan. Try Grocery, Saul, Char. Don't forget to go over to Park Slope. Al Di La and Convivium Osteria to name just a few. Real jewels in a borough that prides itself on it's pizza reputation.

So many choices! For the best (and most inexpensive!) Thai go to Joya on Court Street. Pizza-
Lucali is a must for pizza.
Italian - Frankie 457 is amazing as is Po (both very reasonably priced). Also love Chestnut for a nicer dinner and their brunch is excellent as well.
For more casual sanwiches and stuff Boca Lupa is great. Also Buttermilk Channel for a cozy meal.
More of a trip but well worth it is The Good Fork in Red Hook.
For sushi (also a trip but to me it's so,e of the best I have had in the city) Taro in Park Slope.
