Any food you could eat daily til' you kick the bucket?!
So, i've got a friend that works at Barclay's Cap in New York. He's 27, very sophisticated, and looks absolutely dashing in his Oliver Peoples and his blue suit (think Christian Bale in "American Psycho" without the mischief and murder).
Upon first glance, one would assume that he would only eat the best things from the best restaurants. Turns out, my dear friend eats one thing for lunch and one thing only. Jif Peanut butter and Smuckers' jelly on two slices of Wonderbread - in an adorable little lunch box. if someone orders food to the office, he politely turns it down to munch on his sammy :)
Of course, i have things that i eat every day, but i can't say that i can think of anything that i would consume literally 7 days/week, 56 weeks/year, every year until i bite the big one.
Do you have anything that you grew up with that you won't give up?

It's not something I ate a lot when I was a kiddie, but something I've eaten several times weekly for the past 15 years...pho. I suffer withdrawals when I don't get my fix in 3-4 days.
I've eaten more ramen in my lifetime, but pho tai takes it another step.

Everyday for the rest of my life I could eat:
Cheese (any kind)
Sushi
Bagels with cream cheese
Spinach salad
Peanut butter toast on 12 grain bread (I actually do eat this everyday)
A sandwhich, preferably with mayo, dijon, turkey, spinach, sprouts, and good cheese
My dad's enchilladas
PumpkinBear at 9:17PM on 10/25/09
Flint Coneys. I grew up on the things, ate them every day when I served them last summer at a beachhouse. They're the food of life to me.
LunaPierCook at 9:19PM on 10/25/09
Eggs, poached with runny yolk and perfectly set white, with fresh bread or toast. I could easily eat this for breakfast every day for the rest f my life. I do, most days.
Nicholas H at 9:45PM on 10/25/09
Cheese is the first thing that comes to mind. I already have cheese almost everyday, but I can't say I count it as the same thing because there are so many types. I would probably enjoy eggs every day, but it would have to be any style.
yayfood at 10:12PM on 10/25/09
I could eat eggo waffles with butter and real maple syrup every day and not get sick of it. Oh, and cheese ....... I loooooove cheese.
caramel at 10:31PM on 10/25/09
If I did eat these daily, I probably would kick the bucket, but I'd be even happier than I am already:
* kettle-cooked potato chips: didn't grow up eating these, since my mom forbade anything fried or sugary
* eggs, cooked any way: been eating these since before I was born, because mom's ob/gyn "prescribed" an egg a day
piglet at 10:54PM on 10/25/09
There's tons of foods I could eat daily.
bread
eggs
pasta
tomatoes
cheese
beans
rice
lettuce
mushrooms
oranges
apples
grapes
berries
I'm going to stop now because toherwise this is going to be a very, very long list.

Crowley large curd cottage cheese with a Klausen dill pickle half would be my #1 pick for my daily brunch, occasionaly paired with a slice of toasted marble rye.
Husband-hands down the man could live on pizza for one meal every day and a hot turkey sandwich for the other meal. Boring but good, Cheerios for breakfast every morning.
15 year old son-pizza with hot sauce and cheese quesadillas
11 year old son-anything with potatoes...loves them mashed, scalloped, stuffed, fried, grilled. This morning he had a huge mound (About 2 c.) of leftover scalloped potatoes with diced turkey ham for his brunch. And don't get me wrong, he does eat healthy, this was just a leftovers indulgence and he's actually a bit under weight because he's really physically active.

Cookies and milk....every day...usually twice a day :)
lawofmurphy at 11:40PM on 10/25/09
Fresh mozzarella cheese. My mom would get it every so often, and I always called dibs on the knot!
misha at 11:49PM on 10/25/09
oh man. I forgot about cookies and milk!
The perfect modest but luscious dessert and there are so many types of cookies! Excellent idea, @lawofmurphy.
yayfood at 11:54PM on 10/25/09
I could easily, EASILY drink a gallon of milk a day. I need to lease a cow.
sailordave at 12:19AM on 10/26/09
Sushi
Parmigiano Reggiano
Tomatoes
Focaccia
Asparagus
Berries
Yogurt
Whenever I ponder being vegetarian or vegan, the first two on my list always stop me. Just like I could never give up prosciutto forever.
LearP at 12:32AM on 10/26/09
Water is the only thing I could consume every day for the rest of my life. I love variety and when something becomes common it loses its worth. Why eat something you ate yesterday when you could eat something different today? :)
sorahatch at 12:44AM on 10/26/09
Coffee. And there are only 52 weeks /year.
dmcavanagh at 6:29AM on 10/26/09
@dmcavanaugh - thanks for that. A little too much alcohol, nowhere near enough sleep, and far too much studying has fried my brain!
Good call on the eggs - i could easily eat fried eggs and toasted fresh bread (and usually do) every day for breakfast. mmmmm... and lebanese tabbouleh... and smoked salmon... and espresso... and anything with fresh tomatoes and basil :)
too bad 4:17 am is too early for breakfast!
Golden at 7:18AM on 10/26/09
Grew up on toast, pb and banana for breakfast, and although I don't eat it every day now I could.
potstickers.
black beans and rice cooked with onions and large slices of orange zest, hot sauce. Topped with sour cream. I love this stuff.
lemonfair at 7:33AM on 10/26/09
I surely shouldn't but I could eat ice cream daily until they bury me. Don't fret, on cold days I'd just add hot fudge or hot raspberry toppings...
czken at 7:55AM on 10/26/09
Eggs! I really do not eat them much but could have an entire days menu built around them.
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs with hot salsa, avocado, tomato slices and flour tortilla
Lunch: Crunchy egg salad sandwich on rye bread
Dinner: Over-easy egg cook in lots of butter placed on top of pasta with Parmesan cheese and black pepper
onehotcook at 9:43AM on 10/26/09
Tea and cookies. If price wasn't an issue, sushi.
avaryne at 10:01AM on 10/26/09
Any types of green. Can't go on a day without some vegetables in life. Oh and bananas and apples as well. Love me some honeycrisp this fall season. :)
gargupie at 10:38AM on 10/26/09
Every day? ---- Chocolate!
Brownie at 10:42AM on 10/26/09
A bread+cheese+tomato sandwich. (But this only really works when tomatoes are in season; it's nowhere near as good with those mealy pink globes that are available in January.)
Onepot at 11:12AM on 10/26/09
I forgot about pasta! Oh pasta, I love you so much.
PumpkinBear at 11:25AM on 10/26/09
All I could live on would be a bowl of basmati rice, add in yogurt, and a big dollop of chutney. I'll be set for life.
Juman23 at 11:26AM on 10/26/09
Popcorn. You can pry my popcorn popper from my cold dead hands. And if you do, I will haunt you!
Traveller at 12:13PM on 10/26/09
Hummus, mujaddara, cinnamon & sugar on seed bread, fresh raspberries, margherita pizza from Pizzeria Regina in Boston, variations on fruit/nut/cheese salad with homemade vinaigrette
contazia at 12:27PM on 10/26/09
i have a dependency on fruit mentos (never mint!), and eat them on a daily basis, 3-4 times a day. I always have to have a roll of them on my bag, or else i get nervous.
nindi_18 at 1:56PM on 10/26/09
Cheese
bacon
perfectly ripe strawberries
lakeloverhh at 2:35PM on 10/26/09
@ sailordave - you and my SO both. I've actually considered it....
-Bread. Only dark Russian rye (with caraway seeds and molasses).
-Eggs. Really only eggs on english muffins with cheddar and mayo.
-Apples. I eat them daily all winter, with just about each meal.
-Pickles. Especially home made crunchy ones.
-Berries. If they were perfectly ripe for some reason.
Many of those things aren't actual dishes, but I do eat many of them daily, without fail, only taking breaks for seasonal goodies.
tatianak at 3:02PM on 10/26/09

I'd love to spend the rest of my days eating chocolate cake...
Things I do eat everyday:
bananas
cinnamon raising bread/english muffins
orange juice
black tea
gingercookiewithlime at 7:44PM on 10/26/09
Every single morning I have whole wheat toast with peanut butter, a glass of orange juice, and a cup of tea. The perfect breakfast. I have eaten this for 35 years (the tea for 20 years) and look forward to eating this for at least another 35.
I usually have a daily apple, and some cheese, as well.
PeanutButter at 10:18PM on 10/26/09

I am surprised at the small number of people who said chocolate! I get all irritable and twitchy-like if I can't have my delicious, delicious chocolate. Other than that, definitely tea and sushi, and probably pasta.
GirlFromJetCity at 1:02AM on 10/27/09
avacados
fresh garden tomatoes
cheese
homemade salsa
ndrewry at 11:08AM on 10/27/09
Pizza - definitely! I could eat pizza three times a day and never, ever get tired of it.
Also, cheese. I do love me some cheese! lol
virgogrrl at 11:16AM on 10/27/09
My foods are:
-strong tea with milk
-bread
-pasta
-cheese (even lactose intolerance hasn't stopped me here)
I love sushi and chocolate, but I definitely don't think I could eat them every day and not loose the specialness I associate with eating them. I savor chocolate, and let it melt in my mouth, a small bite at a time. As for sushi, I associate that with special occasions. Give me a well-made plate of sashimi, tuna rolls, and unagi over birthday cake any time.
Skythe at 11:27AM on 10/27/09
I eat hot old-fashioned oatmeal with real maple syrup every day for breakfast and have done so for maybe the last 20 years. In the spring and summer we add fresh berries and/or peaches, and in the fall apples and pears with dried cranberries, apricots, prunes, or raisins. Otherwise frozen berries, cherries and peaches are just fine. Often we add with ground flax seeds, walnuts, and cinnamon too. Anytime I might have a little leftover fruit crisp, it goes right in my cereal the next morning. Sometimes other hot cereals (usu. steel cut oats, Bob's Red Mill or wheatena) make it into the rotation, but with the varieties of fruits and nuts, I have yet to ever get bored with this meal, which is rarely the same two days in a row. Cream of wheat was the first thing I ever learned to cook, so hot cereal for breakfast just seems right to me winter or summer.
Otabenga at 12:03PM on 10/27/09
Everyday (if there weren't financial or health concequences) I would eat:
> BigXtra: without ketchup, onion or tomato; extra bacon, mayo, seasoning and pickles
> Papa's Rouladen or goulash
> Maple syrup breakfast sausages; Johnsonville brand
> Spinach salad with hard-boiled eggs and a bacon-dripping/honey dressing with candied pecans and blue cheese
> A case of Moosehead® Lager
> Tuna Sashimi
> Home Fries with malt vinegar and coarse sea salt
> Cucumber dill salad
(pretty much like my "last bite on earth" in my hungrychristel profile :D )
@Golden: I find it so hard to picture Christian Bale in "American Psycho" without the mischief and murder!
Matter'o'fact: I cannot shake the creepy character ever when I watch his movies. Weird.
hungrychristel at 12:34PM on 10/27/09
Spinach. Period.
alosha7777 at 5:55PM on 10/27/09
Shrimp, fried especially, but prepared almost anyway. Salmon, raw or cooked almost anyway. Tuna fish salad either in sandwiches or with Frito Scoops (I know). Sushi. Meatloaf or meatballs. Eggrolls. Gyoza. That's enough, it's like shopping on an empty stomach.
dawnie2u at 11:12PM on 10/27/09
potatoes.
