Alton Brown in Boston

Bostonian SE-ers, I just found out Alton Brown will be at Coolidge Corner Theatre next Tuesday night, at 6pm. Although tickets are sold out, there'll be a standby line--tickets for $5.

I'll be going at 4:30 or so with a book to wait--if anyone would like to join, to see our favorite food chemist!

How exciting! I wish I could attend. And is it just me or is Alton looking particularly emaciated these days? You'd think he'd eat a little more, given all of the food opportunities that probably pop up in his line of work.

He was on The View the other day (I was home sick, I don't normally watch daytime tv). And he said he's lost about 50 pounds since March. His secret is whenever he wants cake he eats sardines instead. I think if I had to eat sardines I would just stop eating entirely. Or just give up on dieting. He does look thin, but he seemed really energetic and fun on the show so his personality hasn't shrunk.

@Gingercookiewithlime: I had no idea Alton even had 50 lbs. to lose! He never seemed particularly heavy and 50 lbs. seems like a lot of weight to drop in less than seven months.

In those juice commercials that are on he looks a bit heavier than normal. But 50 lbs seems excessive. I liked some of the weight he gained compared to his thinner-younger days; much more handsome!

i liked the weight too. thin makes him look old....

You can watch the episode on Hulu. I recall that it was around 50 pounds, but I was also feverish and delirious for most of the week....

I bet it was the influence of that pesky nutritional anthropologist! (j/k I heart her)

Seeing him on Hulu, he looks creepy thin like he has cancer or something.

Did he look that bad in person?
