What's for dinner tonight - 9/30
It's the last day in September and it's quite chilly here in NYC. What are you all cooking for dinner? I think I'll roast some brussel sprouts and get the leaves nice and crunchy and have a spicy dipping sauce on the side. I might throw some cauliflower florets in with the sprouts too.

It's chilly here, too in outside of Philly, but I have some gazpacho that I need to finish and some leftover meatballs and chicken/mashed potatoes still. Think I will make potato pancakes. Everyone in the family will be present so there will be a nice family dinner tomorrow night.

Boeuf Bourginone. I couldn't get pearl onions this morning, so I got cippolini instead.

Red lentil soup with lemon, spinach salad with warm bacon dressing, 2 loaves of freshly baked 5 minute artisan bread. Fake DQ peanut buster parfaits for dessert. Woohoo...a most excellent meal.

My husband dug potatoes this afternoon. I am fixing skillet scalloped potatoes - recipe on this site. I will heat a ring of bologna and slice one of my remaining tomatoes. Happy Anniversary to Jerzee and Mr. T. Tomorrow is my birthday, so I am looking forward to the leftovers from tonight's dinner.

I cheated tonight because I had a long day..(from 2a.m. - 5 p.m) I just had some store bought wonton soup and a cup of tea. I was gonna make braised chicken with white wine, lemon juice chicken broth, garlic, onions with potato and carrots but I was just too tired....maybe tomorrow...
Happy Anniversary Mr. & Mrs. Tomato and many more!!!! It was my 1 year wedding anniversary yesterday! :o)

Just paid a short visit to the Slice site and got hungry for pizza.
So, homemade pizza.

Something salad-y sounds good today.

I am making what turned out to be a GIANT pan of chicken and veggie curry. Bamboo shoots, bell peppers, chickpeas, yogurt, and cashews....only 10 minutes until i get to enjoy. It is perfect for this chilly day here in chicago!

Smoked chicken chowder with a salad--it was pretty wet and chilly here, and my older son had a cross country meet, so I wanted something to warm him up (he also had a chicken sandwich with hot sauce in addition to soup and salad). My husband is on his third bowl of chowder, so I know it hit the spot.
Happy Anniversary, Jerzee!

Set off the smoke detector when I left the red lentil soup on too long...whoops. Luckily, I had made so much of it that I scooped off the top part and we still had enough with plenty for leftovers. Wonderful smokey taste too. :)
Whole dorm now smells like old man cigar smoke.

Happy Anniversary to Jerzee & Cupcake! Happy Birthday Suzanne! Just finished an exhausting move, so dinner was a fridge clean out. Sometimes leftovers are surprisingly good....

I'm making this! I have some delicious sweet italian turkey sausage from the greenmarket to use up.

I can't believe how cold it is here in Syracuse, but that also means great fall food. I made a butternut squash risotto with pan seared salmon and scallops with a truffled balsamic reduction.
