"We are happy to serve you" cups: Last seen?!

I know this was discussed before (http://newyork.seriouseats.com/2009/07/we-are-happy-to-serve-you-coffee-cups-nyc-history.html) but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a place that serves coffee in this cup? I have this strong desire to be served in this cup, having just moved here and wanting the full New York experience. Any leads?

I have always wanted to get coffee in that kind of cup! Please let me know, as I'm heading out that way shortly, and I'd love to get one. In the mean time, I have a fake one, a travel cup that I bought from Uncommon Goods. It'll have to hold me over for now. Good luck on your hunt!

You can order a ceramic version on Amazon. I just googled "We are happy...." and there were a bunch of shopping options.

@lokamotion: Good luck. These cups are hard to find. You either don't see them used at all much anymore or you see a horrible updated version of them that looks like some sort of 1990s schlock. When I actually tried to find them for a project my GF was working on, it was difficult and I gave up. A week later, I randomly popped in to bodega in Astoria, Queens, and saw that it was using them. Too late for the GF, but a fun find anyway.

My advice: Don't rush it. The cup itself is not going to give you the "New York experience." And IMHO asking us all to tell you where to find one—if it were that easy—is sort of cheating.

Why not use this as an opportunity to really get to know the city you just moved to? Use the ol' shoe-leather technique to find your cup by visiting each and every bodega and coffee shop on your commute and/or in your home and work neighborhoods.

You might even meet people new this way. When I was looking for these cups, I saw a stranger carrying one and asked him where he got it. Even though I never did find the morning bagel/coffee cart on Eighth Avenue that he referred me to, I had an interesting conversation with him regarding the cups and their scarcity. And don't worry about approaching strangers—most New Yorkers are happy to help, even if at first they're a little gruff.

Anyway, welcome to the city. Hope it's treating you well. And if I do spot a place with one of these cups, I'll give you a shout—after I think you've put in the effort on your own! ;)

@adam kuban: thank you for your kind kind words!

i actually saw someone on queens blvd carrying one ( i live in sunnyside ) and wanted to ask him, but i was mid-run and VERY sweaty. just YESTERDAY i saw a person eating breakfast at a local bakery with the cup, and wanted to stop in and get a coffee, but i was in a hurry. i tried to go this morning, and they had CHANGED. THE. CUP.

you are right. i am going to look for it, but also be patient and letting it come to me. when i find it, it'll be the day i officially settled, and it will be my New York Anniversary.

p.s. i really love all your reviews on slice, and i feel like you @replying me already gave a great NY experience. :)

@lokamotion -- I know it's not the same, but they sell the ceramic version here. I'm pretty tempted to buy one, especially since I've been watching Damages on Netflix and all they use are these paper cups. :(

@lokamotion: Awww [blushes]. Hope you find one. Now, the next time you're not running or aren't in a hurry, you'll have a hard time finding anyone with that cup. That's how it works! Surprisingly, they're not all over Astoria, as you'd think they would be.

One was right in front of me at a meeting this morning. I work downtown, near the Broadway/ Nassau stop. My colleague got her coffee at a deli and it came in that cup!
