SE College Division...

hey guys!! from reading other comments i guess there are several other college students on this site, and even some high school age as well. I was wondering if maybe there was some way we could maybe take turns writing articles for SE? or even a college branch of SE... i just think it would be so interesting to see how those of us in dorms, apartments, and very limited budgets make do with food. we could talk abt our favorite campus foods, the worst campus foods, and local favorites, not to mention microwave meals. this is just an idea but i think it would be so very cool. I am a magazine journalism major and i think writing about food would just be so amazing!

I'm a college student (in the food heaven that is NYC!)...think this is an excellent idea. Also if possible I think we should organize into groups of serious eaters by area, would love to meet up with some others and just go out and taste what the world has to offer!

lucky that you are in NYC! oh i forgot to say - I am at Kent State University, located in Ohio, in between Cleveland and Akron. sort of a farming town but a great school nonetheless.

Maybe you should also include tailgating chow?

Go Mizzou!!!!!!

I'm a collegiate SE-er from Boston who thinks this is a great idea! Count me in!

I'm in!! I go to Penn State :) I have some good tailgate recipes and stories :)

I like the idea of taking turns, what with our schedules and all.
I'm a third year from University of Alberta, proud of our green and gold teams, and our chicken noodle soup with a layer of oil on top.

I've frequented SE from about Sophomore year on. Now I'm a grad student at CU, and I'd be happy to contribute, too. :)

CU-Boulder student here... there's some pretty good grub around here if you ask .

college student, dear. have the issues of time and broke-ness often.

@ emilytaylor - thats why it would be so interesting. to see how those of us with limited means and time and unique living situations figure out ways to find amazing food. yes, i am busy, but food is something i am passionate about. you make time for your passions, you save money to get that special item at the store. we may be young and broke but we are the next generation of foodies and we are going to be the driving force of change in the way America eats.

I'm a third year student at the University of Pittsburgh. Count me in!

Grad student at the University of Arizona here. Awesome idea!

Sounds like a brilliant idea, count me in! I'm a freshmen at Foothill College in the Bay Area, near San Jose. Tons of amazing and cheap food around here. I'd definitely like to see this pursued!

@GinaPet - Pitt alum here! What are you studying? I moved across the country mere weeks after graduating to a town with a very limited food scene, so eat lots of 'burgh food for me as I miss it so so much. You've got it good in the 'burgh, especially if you're living in city neighborhoods.

EASY AND QUICK recipes can be contributed by just about anyone, even a 50 y/o Brooklyn Girl who never went to college. If we could possibly submit the recipes, maybe someone at SE could publish them as "by contributor."

thanks for all the support guys!!

@chiff yes that could work too. i just think that hearing from those of us with limited means and money and our relationships with food would be an interesting addition for SE

any one from the SE team want to chime in on this?

*Chiming noise. I've contacted many of you here about making this happen, but if any other interested college students come along, feel free to e-mail me at erin@seriouseats.com

I would be in. Im a student at a culinary school in san diego.
