Pot boiled dry

I let a pot of boiling water get away from me, and it boiled dry. Now the bottom of the pot (it's stainless steel) is a dark brown/blackish color. Any hope of rescue? I have seen suggestions to use lemon juice, baking soda, Barkeeper's Friend, etc....what do you guys think?

Also, If I can manage to clean it, will it affect future cooking or flavor?
