Okay - What the heck is "spry"?
I have some really old recipes that call for "spry". Does anyone know what that is or where I can find it or what I can substitute for it?

Is it vegetable shortening that gives you cat-like reflexes?

Think Crisco. They were rivals at one time.

It is spelled with a capital S. Spry was a brand name of vegetable shortening, like Crisco. I think the brand was discontinued in the 1960s.
