More on Wines............
Over the weekend there was a discussion of antipasto and wines which got me thinking. I'm a recovering alcoholic (12 years sober) and when I occasionally want a glass of wine I turn to the alcohol removed variety. Not shilling but Sutter Home has a nice selection. Hubby and I even celebrate our anniversaries with their Spumante. Has anyone else had any experience with NA wines and what did you think of the quality? I often bring a bottle of Merlot to parties as my personal drink and encounter a lot of curiosity; and when I share some I always get a favorable response. I'd love to hear how wine connoisseurs feel about these wines. Have you tried them? Would you dismiss them out of hand as being "illegitimate?" What say you SEers?

I personally find NA wines far too fruity & sweet - so I use that to my advantage and use them in sangria. My non-drinking friends and kids like it.

I don't have any advice on the wine but I do want to say I am SOOOOOOO happy for you and proud of you for the 12 years sober!!!!!!

Congrats on 12 years tapioca!!! Thats awesome!
You should truly be proud. Thats a difficult and constant road :)
I'm surprised (as yayfood said) that more people didn't comment on my antipasto/wine topic. Oh wells.
I agree that sutter home makes an affordable variety of basic wines.
I didn't know they devoted a brand to non-alcholic varietes~! Check out fre's devoted site for their non-alch. wines (produced by the established and trusted Sutter Home Winery) which you already know about.
I suggest tasting a non-alch version of Burrowing Owl (Okanagan Valley)- they have four types of sparkling local fruit juices if you can get your hands on them! sooo good.
Best of luck :D

@foodiegal and @hungrychristel Thanks, I appreciate your support. @kigibson You're right, the NA wines do tend to be sweeter and I think that's part of what I like about them; and how come I didn't think of making sangria out of them? Great idea!
