The only mango chili I know is mango pieces dusted with chili powder. But I checked online and found a couple recipes include mango in chili so you might do a search. Did he really mean the stewlike chili with mango, or the dried fruit snacks?

the stewlike chili with mango - i searched only for recipes but could only find one on foodreference.com

You mean mango chutney?

I've had mango chutney and I've had mango salsa but never mango chili. That just sounds weird to me.

Can you find out where he's had mango chili before? Who made it for him and get their recipe?

Joe Perry makes a Mango Peach hot sauce. A couple years ago I put together a Mango Peach Chili recipe that uses 3/4 cup of his hot sauce. You can get the sauce from Joe's web site or in the stores of most Hard Rock Cafés. The recipe itself is posted on the food section of Joe's web site. I think you'd need to buy three bottles of the sauce to get near the 3/4 cup you need though, so make sure the bf is worth it! :-)

Trader Joe's has mango chicken sausage....you should try them, they're like crack!

i thought mango chili sounded weird too and unfortunately, he can't get the recipe from the person who made it for him.

when i asked him what was in it he was like mangoes and beans and stuff.

i think its supposed to be like a traditional chili (the stew) but with mango in it.

Make chili and then top it with mango salsa. See if he likes *that*. If so, you win. ;-)

why don't you try making that recipe on foodreference.com? It sounds exactly like what he's described to you.

Mango goes well with black beans and tomatoes. I bet you could find a black bean chili recipe and add mango chunks near the end of the cooking time so the mango doesn't get too mushy.
