Is there a better cheap eats list besides New York Magazine?
I know the issue came out a while ago but New York Magazine's cheap eats list is getting a bit out of hand especially in this recession. Since when is $25 considered cheap! Can anyone recommend an alternative? Because I eat big but my wallet is suffering as a broke college student. Thanks!

one of our favorite cheap eats in NYC is mooncake foods Great comfort food with Asian flair. not sure if they still do, but have grilled lobster tail specials for $16!

everything listed on midtownlunch.com is usually under $10.

I was just referred to this site to find cheap eats restaurants in the city. http://www.cheapeatery.com/restaurants/tehuitzingo/menu/. It was recommended to me to find a great cheap mexican restaurant but it has tons of other places too. And all of the restaurants are $10 and under. There's actually a cheaper restaurant section too called Super Cheap Eateries that serve meals for under $6. Crazy.

I like the Time Out NY list. I has several categories according to neighborhood and cuisine. Even if its not on the list, you can always search its restaurant and bar reviews for cheap pricing. I think they list stuff less than $10 (or very close to it)
Check it out here

Time Out's yearly list is always better for college students than New York Mag's. NY Mag's is more about "bang for your buck" and value but "cheap eats" is the wrong label.

We agree that Time Out's list is better, and we second the motion about Midtown Lunch. And Winedanddined has an amazing list of over 70 places to get free food: http://www.winedanddined.com/recession-specials/free-food-guide/

I've been using cheapeatery.com based on a hound's recommendation and it's proving to be an awesome too. Nothing over $10 and tons of places for under $6. Plus, they have more cheap eateries than I've ever seen at other resources. Awesome
