Not on the LES but in the East Village, is Natori. A great little hole in the wall, serving fresh, clean delicious fish, along with fantastic kitchen items. I love their chicken katsu, and they have deep fried alligator among other things. Usually have lots of specials. East 8th bet 2nd and 1st.

maybe check out cube 63 - it's BYOB so that should help defray cost.

No such thing in the east village. I do second Natori, though I myself have stopped going there for years because I thought it went downhill...

Not exactly LES, but Yoshi Sushi on Avenue A (and St. Mark's, I think) is pretty good--try their peanut and avocado roll. (A bit unusual, but delicious!)

again, in the east vil and not LES, but - new asahi on tenth and either avenue a or first (i forget which one) is pretty decent and affordable.
