I met Rick Bayless! (And I still can't believe it)

I had one of the best nights of my life back in August on the night of the Top Chef Masters finale. I MET Rick Bayless AT his restaurant WHILE watching the episode where he became the Top Chef Masters winner. I chowed down on his appetizers, chips and guac (and drank a fair share of yummy margaritas). It was glorious! Unfortunately not all of my friends understand how cool this is so I need to reminisce about it here :)

MET Rick Bayless AT his restaurant WHILE watching the episode ????????????????????????

you should buy a lottery ticket or something!

seriously! Thats truly a one of a kind event.....I'm so jealous.

I know, I felt very lucky and it was honestly one of the most exciting nights ever! Art Smith was there too! Glad there are others who can appreciate the excitement :)

im so jealous! i was planning a weekend trip to chicago around going to topolobampo just to eat there, but it was fully booked for a good two months on saturday nights! now i'm wondering whether i should just go regardless and wait for a table at frontera...dilemma!

Just to clarify, I was invited to this event (but it was still surreal). It didn't just happen by chance.

I highly recommend trying Frontera if you're in town though! I have yet to try Topolobampo for obvious reasons but I hope to one day!

I went to lunch the other day and was seated at a table right next to Jessica Alba and some of her friends.

Yours is more food related, and I probably would have been more excited in that situation, but I'm from Texas, I don't see celebs very often unless they're from here.

Sounds like a blast.

Very cool! I am totally going to Frontera next time I go to Chicago.

That is fantastic! Congrats - i'm excited for you!!

I once dined with Terrence Howard of Hustle and Flow. Well, we were dining in the same Philadelphia restaurant...does that count?

You are so lucky. I love his mole and quacamole recipes.

Wow, that is pretty cool. I met Rick Bayless when I dined at Topolobampo a several years ago. The meal was insanely good and he came by for a table visit and I was completely tongue-tied, but inside I was yelling "I love you!" When he left our table, I was able to start breathing again and said rather wistfully, "I should have done something to let him know how much I love him...like throw my underwear or something."

I had a similar experience when I met Jen Carrool (currently blowing away the competition on Top Chef). It was amazing, and she even invited me to come back another day and see the kitchen.

I just love how some chef celebrities are so down to earth.

@korovka, I highly recommend Frontera (actually over Topolobampo). The flavors are more abundant at Frontera, in my experience.

LOL@ Wookie!

I ate at Frontera a couple of years ago and I think I enjoyed it...I didn't feel very well (a cold, not food-borne) so I don't remember much! I'd say that is a good reason to go back. I kept looking for Mr. Bayless but didn't see him. I figured he was hanging out with the "cool" people at Topolobampo!

OMG how did you keep from being a giddy school girl? I am so very jealous and very excited for you! Gracious, I don't know what I'd do if I met him. I think security would have to pull my crying screaming body away from him like they had to do with Elvis.

Let's just say I WAS a giddy school girl...haha.
