Granola--help! Please.
I am making the delicious Hannah's Granola. But for some reason it is not getting hard or staying together. It's been in the oven for over 2 hours at 250 but nothing....any advice? I don't want to have to throw away all those nuts!!
(I was on the phone chitchatting while I made it...that could be the problem! But does anyone have a solution?)

I'm not sure if it's going to stick together, but to make them crunchy & crispy stir the granola in a large skillet over medium heat. it's the fastest way I've tried.

You might need some sugar or liquid sweetener that would make the granola stick in clumps.
As for it not getting hard, the granola might be soft while hot, but it should crisp up when cooled.

Hm, I only bake my granola for 25 minutes at 300 and never have a problem, and the honey and oil in the Hannah's recipe seem like they should be adequate. It's hard to tell about clumping and firmness until it's cool.

It may be the type of oil. Either way, I wouldn't toss it though. It will just be on the non-chunky side.

My granola doesn't usually come out chunky - I too am working on how to get clusters but it's still wonderfully tasty stuff without them. Don't toss it unless you've baked it too far to be yummy, just have lots of fruit & yogurt parfaits this week.

The secret to clusters: ditch the oil and employ water. I've seen some just sprinkle water on and form into clumps with their fingers, but I prefer using the water in apple sauce. Go to baking bites.com and search "applesauce granola"

Hi! Awesome that you're making (or trying to make) my granola, and sorry that it's failing you! The recipe yields only moderately clustery granola. I've never had a problem with getting it nice and hard though...I'm not sure I have a solution.
I will try out jay27's water method next time I make some granola!
Good luck :)

HH.
I've made it 3 times before successfully..I think I just wasn't paying attention. I turned up the oven and that was NOT a good idea...
Will try again today after restocking at Trader Joe's!!
