Dried lavender buds in NYC?

I know I should've gone to the Bklyn Flea on Sunday (there's a guy there who sells loads of dried lavender) but I was sick and didn't make it.

Now I can't seem to find it anywhere. None of the Whole Foods in this city have it (I called all of them) and I called a few natural foods stores - they don't have it, either.

Any leads? Prefer somewhere downtown or in Brooklyn. Oh, and I need it today.

I'm sorry I don't know about Brooklyn, but I always buy them at Eli's on 81st and Third in Manhattan. Call ahead to be sure, but I think they're a sure thing. Good luck! What are you making?

That's totally out of my way but I might have to go there if nothing turns up downtown. Thanks for the tip.

I'm making lemon-lavender shortbread cookies as part of a huge 600-piece dessert bar for a wedding on Saturday - MY wedding!

This is probably too late, but what about Aphrodisia on Bleecker?

Congrats on the wedding! DH went out with a list for lemon extract, and dried lavender flowers, among other stuff. He found both in the baking/spice aisle of the local grocery. I'm planning a lemon/lavender cake for a birthday celebration coming up soon.

Advice is to grind them a bit in a mortar & pestle, otherwise they might look like dead pantry moths in the product....

Thanks everyone. Seems like the place in NYC that always has it is Flower Power in the East Village but I'm not sure I have time to make it over there tomorrow... I can't believe this is so hard to find in NYC. When I lived in Baltimore the Whole Foods there ALWAYS had it. ?!?!?!!

I might just forget about the lavender altogether and go with lemon-pink peppercorn shortbread cookies. Yes, I think I will do that. I am too exhausted to deal with hunting down lavender. :(
