Apple Pie in NJ - Please help...

I just recently moved back to NJ from sunny San Diego, and now I am getting excited for some apple pie! For three years I was eating, and enjoying, Julian Apple Pie (Julian, CA) It was the best ive ever had. I currently live in Monmouth County, NJ. Does anyone have any tips on where to get some great apple pie. I will go anywhere in NJ!!!

Thanks so much.

Go to the farmers market, buy some apples and bake the pie - best apple pie in NJ is at your house.

My fiance does make an incredibe dutch apple pie, but I was looking for something to buy. Maybe even take a day trip to have a slice.

Um, since you're so close to the apple country of NE, I'd suggest googling an orchard, picking your own, and making some pie! :)

If you want to go for a nice ride to pick your own check out Solebury Orchards http://www.soleburyorchards.com/index.html. It's not too far from Monmouth County, out near New Hope, PA.

If you just want some baked goods right now, there is a bakery on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, I'm sorry I can't remember the name, but it's at Convention Hall. It's hard to miss. I haven't had the apple pie specifically but everything else I’ve tried has been top notch.

Also, check out Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck. http://www.deliciousorchardsnj.com/scripts/openExtra.asp?extra=16 It's a really good market and they sell their own pies. Those I can vouch for. YUM

I grew up in Monmouth county! I agree about going to Delicious Orchards and picking apples. It's lots of fun. I've never tried their pies though since I always baked them at home.

Although, the best apple cake I've ever had was from Freedman's bakeries. It has a crunchy cinnamon crust on top with the soft sweet apples. It's so incredibly good writing about it makes me want to drive the 2+ hours to pick one up.

How could I forget Freedman's! mmmmmm crumb cake.

I am in Monmouth County! Delicious Orchards...ooohhhh what memories...and every thing is good there--I tried a sample of their carrot cake recently and the cream cheese frosting was the best I have ever tasted!

Wemrock Orchards in Freehold is also good.

For u-picking, Eastmont Orchards (near Delicious Orchards) is the biggest.

I've never heard of or been to Freedman's

@HeartofGlass - Freedman's is a small bakery chain (by chain I mean there are three or four locations) in Monmouth county. There's one in Belmar by St. Rose on Main St. And there are others, but that's the one I always went to. Of course, that was years ago so it might be closed now.

Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck or Dearborn Farms in Holmdel both make EXCELLENT pies!

Welcome back to NJ! I make homemade pies but I recently had a Wemrock Orchards peach pie which was really good. I love their apple cider doughnuts also. I have not tried the apple pie yet. Samaha's farm market on Lloyd Road in Aberdeen - just off of Parkway exit 117 sells Wemrock Orchards pies and doughnuts. It is more convenient for me than the Freehold location. For other baked goods and pastries try The Flakey Tart in the Atlantic Highlands - so very good!
