Produce in the fridge - bagged or loose?

After watching my boyfriend empty a bag of loose okra into the crisper drawer in the fridge (apparently because I told him not to leave produce tied up in bags), I'm wondering about veggie storage. My theory has always been that things with thicker skins (zucchini, cucumbers, etc.) can be loose, while things like okra, carrots and leafy greens can stay in the produce bag, provided they aren't tied up and devoid of air. What works best for you?
