Pimm-vention

I just created my new favourite drink!

Pimms, iced tea, and lemon - so good, I wish I had thought of this at the beginning of the summer.

(Probably it's been invented before, but it was a first - and not last - for me)

What is Pimm's? Sorry, not a big drinker beyond wine.

Pimm's is an aromatic liqueur based on gin and flavoured with herbs and spices. It has a very distinctive flavour, and is one of England's most popular summer drinks, usually served with fizzy lemonade and cut-up fruit and cucumber. It's not terribly strong (about 22% alcohol). A lot of weddings and receptions serve it instead of Champagne, and of course you can't watch cricket without it. I'm not a huge fan myself, but my wife loves the stuff.

Two other Pimm's tips: add half a measure to vodka or gin and shake to make a Pimm's martini, with lots of slices of fruit.

Use ginger beer or ginger ale instead of lemonade with Pimm's over ice and add slices of lime and lemon.
