Mad Men Drinks (new Sunday night ritual)

I don't usually have drinks Sunday night, but with Mad Men back on the air, it seems fitting...

It's starting in five minutes, and I have my drink mixed - Pimm's with iced tea and lemon (new favourite). Not very 60's but an appropriate mash up of US and UK tastes - perhaps an homage to the new trans-Atlantic Sterling Cooper?

Happy Mad Men!

I have nothing terribly food-related to add to this post, but I will say that I have LOVED Sunday's the past couple of weeks. I can go out Saturday night, get in super late, sleep the day away, cook, and have dinner ready by the time True Blood's on. Afterwards, I can get some work done before it's time to watch Mad Men.

I watch Mad Men and True Blood on Mondays ... Monday is a good day! I wonder if a cocktail using the blood-orange soda marketed as "True Blood" would be the ultimate libation for Sunday night HBO .

Here's an adaptation of a classic '60s drink updated for True Blood--

Bloody Harvey Wallbanger
Fill a martini shaker halfway with ice and add--
Juice of 1 blood orange (careful, the juice stains!)
Juice of half a lemon
1/2 shot Galliano
1 shot vodka
Shake and strain into a Collins glass filled with ice.

Highballs (just kidding)

Gimlets or martinis

Gimlets!! And Brandy Alexanders.
