Irritating Table
I try to listen to the Splendid Table with Lynn Rossetto Kasper, but after 15 minutes or so, can't take the constant laughter/cackle of her. She laughs at EVERYTHING!! Laughs while the guest is talking, laughs while she's talking, laughs when nobody's talking. What is sooooooooo funny?

It's radio...she has to fill the void. She does have good guests though.

It's just like the t.v. remote; change channel or turn off. That said, take into consideration that you can often find the show summary/commentary online without the audio.

I like it a lot, and haven't noticed the constant laughter, though I will now (!) I do hear it in my mind's ear. Ina Garten does the same thing.
Not saying this is true for either of them, but for many women this was a habit learned so that what they said would be accepted when they were saying something that might be disagreed with or wasn't nice.

I'm not fortunate enough to ever catch LRK's show as I only listen to radio when I'm in my car.
I've never noticed Ina spontaneously laughing over nothing, especially during cooking demos. Heck, the only superfluous sentence she ever speaks (not related to the recipe) is: "Let's clear the decks." (Two sentences if you want to include whatever incarnation of "How bad can that be?" she might use.) Sharing an anecdote about a specific food or a trip where she first experienced the food isn't the same as cackling to fill air. The other thing TV food personalities do is constantly babble every single motion they're performing "I'm going to get the butter now," "I need to wash my lettuce," yeah, no shit, Sherlock. We know/hope you'll wash the lettuce but especially if you're doing it on TV, we don't need narration to accompany it.
Voices, vocal inflections, speaking styles - all have a very real affect on how we "hear" information shared by another. I have an instructor at my gym who does a cycle class and he has the WHINIEST, DRONIEST voice on the planet. Think Jerry Seinfeld on his worst day - on steroids. So what did they do? They took my least favorite teacher and gave him another class. DOH!

I catch Splendid Table on occasion and haven't noticed her laugh. Ina's laugh seems....slightly forced and somewhat nervous when she's in a group of people. Like she's hoping for acceptance. I could be totally wrong but that's what I hear in Ina's laugh.

I listen to almost every episode (the Splendid Table and Good Food are on my iPod) and she doesn't laugh at everything.
