If I could eat anything right now, I'd pick _________.

Personally, I'd love a bowl of real ramen, the kind you can get in little hole-in-the-wall restaurants in Japan, or any hot pot pie. What would you eat if you had it?

Corned beef hash with a sunny up egg, a slice of hearty cracked wheat toast and a cup of coffee with cream and sweetener.

A have been craving 2 things: biscuits and gravy with a side of crisp hash browns and link sausages, or a Mexican pizza.

Country Ham from N. Va. Scrapple from Lancaster Co. Pa. Bacon from Broadbents in E. Kentucky Grits like they make at the Cove in Naples ,Fl. I could go on but won't .

The fried rice I made for supper last night, with onion, snap peas, summer squash and egg. Will probably make again today.

But if I "could eat anything right now" without the caloric consequences, it would be potato chips with ranch-onion sour cream dip

a big ol' BLT.

If I could eat anything right now, hmmm I would love a big thick grilled steak, with fresh grilled sweet corn and lots of butter, a tomato and cucumber salad with fresh blue cheese dressing, and I huge piece of strawberry shortcake with lots of whipped cream. however since none of that is possible I"ll probably have a slice of dry toast. lol

A plate of grilled octopus.

chicken fried steak, cream gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet ice tea and warm pecan pie with homemade pecan/praline ice cream on top.

Northern Chinese Spicey Peanut Noodle Soup from my local fave...
...or this Cold Soba Noodle Salad with 5-spice grilled prawns at my local japanese rest.

@katiedid- or that!

A big soft pretzel with melted cheese and mustard, or if we're in the sweet scenario a true red velvet cake or lemon meringue pie; maybe gazpacho...
I tend to ask that question too, how cruel.

Anything. My kitchen is currently being painted and I can't leave the house because I need to be here to keep an eye on things.

Plain ginger tea and some sourdough toast - my stomach is so unhappy with me this morning!

Chocolate ice cream.

BLT on an Everything bagel. Having *just* left the dentist, this is a total dream as I cannot chew.

@Skythe: You pushed me in this direction with your ramen in Japan remark...ahh, that would be soooo good!

Gyudon at a stall in Japan, especially for breakfast. It's easier to decide too, since I wouldn't know which ramen I'd want -- between shoyu, sansai, or tororo ramen, or tanuki udon, or souki soba near my aunt's house in Okinawa.

I think I'm going to get bun rieu for dinner tonight, since I can't get a really good bowl of gyudon or ramen here.

Alaskan king crab with a butter/gralic sauce

Pesto, goat cheese and sundried tomato panini. Oh, that is what I am eating :)

@Ortolan - Have you tried Russain King Crab yet??? Surprisingly I found it bigger and sweeter

Fried calf's liver (I just finished "Julie & Julia")

this salad from one of the local joints - it's rotisseried jerk chicken with tons of mandarin orange wedges, slivered almonds, and a delicious vinaigrette. And it comes with coconut-topped corn muffins. It's not going to happen for lunch, but the chances of it being my dinner are pretty high at this point...

No, hungrychristel, I've never had Russian King Crab yet. Did you get yours already cooked and frozen?

I've only found fresh Alaskan King crab at the Chinese restaurants in Vancouver, BC.

Bibimbap. It just sounds so fulfilling and comforting right now!

youre right, ortolan, It must have been frozen and pre-cooked. I just quickly re-steamed them.

I'm curious if you could get it fresh: I live in Manitoba and I've never had fresh king crab. Maybe when I go to BC next year I'll look for it.

I'm a HUGE king crab fan and I just tried this Russian one this year. The legs were ginormous and it did taste different to me.

Just had it for lunch: shrimp salad on a nice, fresh, poppyseed kaiser roll with Wise potato chips and lemon iced tea. It's very hot/humid (typical Philly summer weather) here today and this really did the trick.

marrow.
bourdain had some on 'no reservations' the other day-can't stop thinking about it.

Classic cheese pizza from John's on Bleecker St in NY, followed by fior de latte gelato

Peanut butter sandwich.

hot pastrami sandwich with a whoopie pie for dessert. mmm.

my mom grew up in Boston and this is always one of the first meals we eat when we are there.

A reuben sandwich.

Something's wrong....I'm actually not craving anything.... what the heck, that's kinda scary.

any kind of pasta with lots of butter and garlic..yum

A piece of good quality fresh salmon nigiri. That is something I will never turn down.

This all sounds sooo good. Roughly half a day later I still want my ramen, but I also want a nice, big homemade milkshake. Vanilla, I think.

My mother's vegetable gumbo. My brothers and I have tried for years to duplicate it without success.

Anything in the above or that my husband would like to make for me.

Sushi from a great sushi chef (sustainable seafood only please). I live WY - I'm deprived!

or

Veganized Pumpkin-chocolate Gooey Butter Cake (yes that Paula Deen dessert, but I sub. out the dairy)

Gosh that is random, but those came to mind first!

Char siu wonton noodle soup from Hong Kong Eatery in Boston's Chinatown. Yes, I'm homesick.

something salty -- proscuitto slices -- homemade potato chips ... but i might have to settle for homemade popcorn with olive oil and sea salt.

@martini_me: you better get that checked out. I'd be worried :p

I'd sit down with a warm loaf of freshly-baked bread, and some really good butter, and eat the whole thing.

(I've been gluten-free for nearly a year now, and I still crave bread and pasta.)

my favorite burrito bowl, pizza, or blue-cheese-onion hamburger. I don't feel like cooking tonight, obviously.

big bowl of roasted vegetables.
or a big piece of cheesecake for later tonight.

so many things: 2 spicy tuna rolls with a miso soup, this salad i had the other day with fresh mozzarella and polenta croutons, empanadas, really hot cheese pizza, french fries.

Today is a different day...I want pad thai, and duck choo chee with jasmine rice. For dessert, black rice and mangoes in thick, warm coconut milk served in a chalice.
