Help! Honey garlic chicken wings. Homemade or storebought sauce?
I need to make honey garlic chicken wings. I tried some absolutely delicious ones a couple of weeks ago at a potluck, and when trying to acquire the recipe I was told they were made at the restaraunt where the person works(Cheating). Anyone know if any of the store bought sauces are worth investing in/eating? Have any good recipes? Need help soon, I really want to make these tonight!

Don't bother with a store-bought sauce...Simply season your wings with some salt, pepper, garlic powder, a bit of flour etc., and cook them however you want (not sure if you are frying or baking/broiling); Before the wings get totally browned, you can then heat up some garlic and butter and honey and pour this mixture over the wings, tossing to coat well. Stick back in the oven for a few minutes to let the sauce really stick to the wings and for them to get browned up. I like sprinkling a touch of Tourbinado (raw) sugar over the top before this last few minutes in the oven...the sugar crystals add a delightful "crunch" -- then I squeeze fresh lime over the whole lot.

You may even want to add a small amount of ginger and sesame oil to the honey mixture juliebusmama offered.
Sprinkle some sesame seeds on them for a nice touch.

Thanks so much for the advice, I'll be cooking them in the oven for sure so this should work great for me! I have some nice fair trade cane sugar, would this work instead of Tourbinado sugar?

I take honey, mix in some soy sauce and grate in some garlic. This honey garlic sauce is for garlic lovers only though cause the hit of fresh garlic is intense.
For the wings themselves I toss some flour into whatever marinade I am using so that when I deep fry the wings they get nice and crispy.

Never use storebought sauce for wings... unless you don't care if they are good.
Take your time on the sauce... reuduce it down if you want it sticky.

Honey Garlic Sauce
In a medium saucepan add:
2 tbsp olive oil
3 – 4 cloves minced garlic
Cook over medium heat to soften the garlic but do not let it brown.
add:
1 cup honey
¼ cup soya sauce
1 tsp ground black pepper
Simmer together for 5-10 minutes, remove from heat and allow to cool thoroughly. Watch this carefully as it simmers because it can foam up over the pot very easily.
Mix together:
2 cups flour
6 tbsp powdered ginger
1 tsp cayenne pepper
3 tbsp salt
1 tbsp ground black pepper
Prepare an egg wash of 2 eggs and 4 tbsp cold water whisked together.
Wash, pat dry, trim the tips and cut into sections,
3 pounds chicken wings
Dip the wing pieces into the egg wash and then toss in the flour mixture. Drop the coated wings into a preheated 350 degree F deep fryer, filled with canola, peanut, or soy oil.
Fry until golden brown, about 15-20 min depending on the size of the wing pieces. While still hot out of the oil toss the wing pieces in a large bowl with some of the honey garlic sauce.
