Good eats in Nags Head, NC?

Hey SE!
Heading to Nags Head, NC (aka Outer Banks) for the first time and was wondering if anyone out there had any suggestions as to where we should eat?
My boyfriend and I are pretty adventurous eaters and like to stay away from chain restaurants (and screaming kids...lol).
Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks!

I was just in Nags Head for a weekend and had an awesome dinner at the Kill Devil Grill. We ended up eating up front at the bar and ordered that night's specials, including some super fresh, local steamed, head on shrimp (the best thing we ate all weekend); fried softshell crabs over grits; and a great sea bass dish.

Sugar Shack is a good spot to get your fried seafood fix. Had a pile of fried popcorn shrimp (they were the biggest popcorn shrimp I've seen), served with their potato chips. Also tried their hush puppies and fried dill pickles. Cheap, good eats.

Also heard good things about Tortugas Lie, but we didn't have time to check it out.

Thanks for the info! The head on shrimp sounds amazing....hopefully they run that special again! haha

Tortuga's Lie is great!

The Roadside Cafe up in Duck is great, they have excellent sandwiches there.

Been going to the OBX for over 20 years, and the food and especially the service used to be atrocious. It's really changed in the last few years. We love the Black Pelican on Kitty Hawk Rd. (about Mile Post 5, I think), although it's pretty busy-with kids. We just tried a new restaurant at MP 1.5, Ocean Boulevard Bistro & Martini Bar on Beach Rd. Quiet and adult oriented. The food was very good. (PS Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, & Nags Head within a couple miles stretch, so it takes no time to get around. Duck is within 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. And locations are designated by what Mile Post you're near, so it's really easy to find if you know that.)
