Gluten Free in Columbus

Hey Guys!! last october, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. luckily everything went well, and she just finished chemo and is now on some kind of hormone therapy. anyways, her doctor and nutritionist reccomended that she cut out all products with gluten, bc she has a gluten sensitivity, not as severe as celiac disease, but enough to make a difference. anyways - i was wondering if anyone has some favorite gluten free recipes for breads or pastas or anything of that sort, or if you know of any gluten free restaurants or bakeries in the Columbus OH area. Thanks Guys!!

Though I live in Columbus, but not having a lot of information of gluten free items in general, I don't know how much this will help. But having googled some items, here are some possible options.

Raisin Rack - Multiple rows of dry gluten free goods (in addition to general organic/vegetarian options.

Whole Foods (up near Sawmill / Rt 161) - See the list here link

Also up by the Whole Foods is the Trader Joes, which is everyone's favorite alternative shop, lol.

As for as restaurants go Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream has a fantastic Gluten Free Ice Cream Sandwich. In fact, they are so good, that it is their regular ice cream sandwich.

Pei Wei and P.F.Changs both have very good gluten free menus (most Chinese food has soy sauce which typically has gluten in it).

Z Pizza in the Short North, Boston's Pizza in the Short North and Uno at Tuttle Crossing all have gluten free pizza. My wife prefers Z Pizza, my son Boston's. Also, Donatos no dough pizza is gluten free.

Whole Foods has a good selection of gluten free products, but so do the Kroger Marketplaces and the Giant Eagles these days.

Wendy's fries are gluten free, but McDonalds and Burger Kings are not. Most restaurants you have to ask. In addition, if your mom asks when she is ordering most chefs at place like Cap City Dinner will do their best to accommodate her.

Not sure what part of the Columbus area your mom is in, but the Dublin farmers market, which takes place on Wednesdays from 4:30-7 in a church parking lot in Old Dublin (161 just west of High St/Dublin Rd), has a stand called Gluten Free You and Me that sells gluten-free baked goods.

check out the gluten free girl website for some recipes and other good stuff here's a link!

Also Noodles and Company, which is in Powell and on campus, have gluten free items as does, surprisingly, outback steakhouse
