Family Dinner @ Prune, Bar Stuzzichini, Landmarc or ?
I know, all over the map but we're coming in to NYC from LA for two short days and need a good place for a family dinner. We'll have our 15-month old in tow, so we can't do anywhere remotely serene, though we'd love something delicious, preferably below 14th.
Have to say I'm a little overwhelmed with all of the options. Would love some guidance. Thanks so much!

if you have a baby i would stay away from prune. it is a tight space that is probably not best for a little one. although i do hear the burger is amazing, maybe go for lunch instead. which landmarc-downtown or columbus circle? although i've never been i hear good things and would suggest this as a good place for a meal. i've been to stuzzichini. it was good not great. one thing to keep in mind is that it is a small plates restaurant so depending on how many mouths you have to feed and big of an appetite you have it might not work out.
if you let us know what you are looking for, how many people, price we might be able to give more options.

Landmarc is great, I've been to both. It's very much hearty home cooking style food, yet elevated just enough to make you feel like you're getting something special and being pampered. I think it would work very well for a family dinner. Plus the wine list is fantastic, and they pride themselves in offering some of the lowest markups in the industry. It's truly amazing. I've bought bottles of wine there that were only twenty or thirty dollars more than they would have been in the store, at any other restaurant they would have been twice their price. I think they have one of the best restaurant burgers in the city, and they have laboratorio del gelato cones for dessert. Never been to the other two. I think Prune is probably better for a romantic dinner, or amongst a few close friends, judging by the size of the room.

Within that list, definitely Landmarc. Food is good and crowd-pleasing and the atmosphere is suitably boisterous!

I LOVE Bar Stuzz. The small plates are really fun because you can try a few different things (and they have GREAT arancini and friend artichokes), but you can go there and just get a pasta and be very pleased with your dinner.
I've heard mixed things about Landmarc (though I have never been).

Don't know the other two but am a fan of Landmarc Columbus Circle. I second the Landmarc lovers, simon's description is on point. It's a large space at Columbus Circle too, and since it's located in a shopping center (Time Warner), they could possibly be more used to kids.

OK guys, I cancelled the Prune reservation. I think you're right about it being too small and intimate for our group.
Now we're down to Pastis, Bar S., and Artisanal. I'm leaning towards Pastis, which seems toddler-friendly but still not sure. Any thoughts?

From what I've seen myself, I honestly would not describe Pastis as 'toddler-friendly'... I'd go with one of the others.

I've been to all except the older Artisanal and am a parent - Pastis is actually very family friendly, no one will give you a second glance. Landmarc in Tribeca is very good with kids, as is Bar Stuz. The new Tribeca location of Artisanal (what's that called?) is pretty kid friendly too. You will also be comfortable at Locanda Verde - really good food - better than everything else on your list . . .
