Cheap Beer and Wine in Bulk in Chicago (Any Wholesale Shops?)

I'm helping to plan a 10 year reunion for my elementary school (I know, crazy huh?) and I need a good source for relatively cheap wine and beer. We're on a very tight budget as we have no funding, don't want to charge a lot and need to pay for food, the place and a class donation. We're expecting around 30-40 people.

Any help with cheaper sources for beer and wine in the Chicagoland area would be appreciated!

I looked at Costco but I wanted to see if there was anything cheaper, especially in the wine department as bottles are still about $10 each and I need something cheaper but still quality :)

How about Trader Joe's for the wine? They have a great selection, and some of the wines are as little as $4/bottle ...

Some of the Charles Shaw stuff at TJ's is great (and only $3 a bottle). I like particularly like their Sauvigion Blanc.

Try Binny's Beverage Depot. There are a few locations around the city, and the website advertises an August wine sale: www.binnys.com.

I would try either Binny's or Sam's. Call and ask what they can do for you if you buy a few cases (there probably will be at least a 10% discount for buying by the case). Both stores have affiliation cards that can get you discounts and specials.

I do note that when I hit Binny's on a Saturday morning, there always seems to be a couple of groups of college kids returning kegs with tubs and taps. And you KNOW they are on a tight budget . . .

I should note that when I said Sam's, I meant Sam's Wine & Spirits (I like the location up near Clybourn on the north side), not Sam's Club of Wal-mart lineage.

Thank you everyone. I should also note that the wine (and beer) needs to be kosher which is making this task harder! These still might help though.

how about the wine discount center?

i'd also talk to the people at sam's
for beer, i'd definitely get kegs.
