Bing Cherries
I got a giant bag of cherries last weekend and then completely forgot about them. They're in decent enough shape to eat, but there's no way I can eat the 2+ pounds before they go bad.
Any suggestions on what to do with them? I unfortunately do not have an ice cream maker (cherry vanilla ice cream was my first thought....)

Canning jar. Votka. Some sugar. Wash cherries. Pit or don't pit; doesn't matter. Put cherries in jar. Add sugar to taste. Fill jar with votka. Cover and shake jar until sugar is dissolved. Leave the jar sitting around...shake it once in a while. In a couple months, you'll have cherry booze and boozy cherries.

Pit and freeze the cherries. Run through food processor with a little sugar and half-and-half. Voila! Sorbet! (You can, of course, hold the cherries for weeks or months in the freezer before you make it.)
Or make a Bing cherry cobbler. You can even bake it in a slow cooker - just put the dough on the bottom. Three hours on High should do it.

@dbcurrie -- great idea! boozy cherries and cherry booze! that sounds like it would be just the thing to whip out on a nice cold nite in december, or around the holidays.....

Had a great salad years ago I used to make. Bing Cherries, watermelon, a couple of other fruits of your choice - don't remember that I used to use citrus, though - white wine and mint crushed in a little sugar. Very refreshing.
The combination of bing cherries, watermelon, and mint was what made it, so I might try some other things that used that combination.

Ha ha. You say a 2-pound bag--which is the standard size at grocery chains around here at least--is a "giant" bag? Such a bag is about four servings around my house and lasts about that many days.
