Betty Crocker gluten-free mix?

I see that my grocery store has just started stocking Betty Crocker's new line of gluten-free mixes. Has anyone tried them, yet? I have several colleagues who are gluten-intolerant, and when it is my turn to provide dessert for our weekly meetings, I don't want them to feel left out. However, no matter how hard I try, and what recipe I use, I've had zero success in baking gluten-free brownies. I'm curious to give the mix a try, but am concerned not only about the taste, but whether it is truly gluten-free (i.e. won't cause problems for my colleagues).

I have tried the brownies. Not too bad! They have nice chewy edges, which I love, and just enough fudginess in the middle. Don't taste gluten-free!

I have the yellow cake mix and the chocolate chip cookie mix at home, haven't made yet. I've heard good things about them though!

I haven't tried the Betty Crocker mixes yet, but I have made the brownies from a mix by Pamela's Products, and it was very good. I've also tried Bob's Red Mill brownie mix and we like it, but thought that Pamela's was better. As far as being truly gluten free, I can't imagine that a company the size of Betty Crocker would risk making people sick by claiming that the product is gluten free when it isn't. Just think of the law suits!

I have tried both the chocolate chip cookies and the yellow cake. I thought that the yellow cake was very good (much less dense than the other mix (Pamela's) I had tried). My non-GF hubby thought the cupcakes I made were good. I was less enthused by the cookies. They turn out crispy if sufficiently cooked to get off the cookie sheet, and they spread really thin. They also seemed to go stale really quickly, even though I stored them in airtight containers. Two days after I baked them, I threw out the remainder because they tasted funky.

As for whether the mix is truly gluten free, I haven't had any issues. But I don't know if I'm a good barometer - I am not extremely sensitive.

My celiac friend gave the yellow cake mix a good review as well: he used it as a base for making cake-like blueberry muffins.

I've only tried the brownies, but they were pretty tasty. Pretty decent box-type brownies.
