Bacon Beer Anyone?

So someone shot me this link today (another fellow-foodie)

http://newyork.grubstreet.com/2009/08/brooklyn_brewery_experiments_w.html

Would you guys even try this?
I'm not sure I would.
Could be a good cooking ingredient though

Absolutely. I love Garrett Oliver.

Garrett Oliver rules! However, a couple of home friends have already made bacon beer with varying degrees of success. And a local microbrewery, Big Al from Seattle, makes a peanutbutter chocolate stout occasionally.

This is the coolest thing I have ever heard of... bacon and beer.
Hello, Yes.

Where can I get some and what is it called?

@happyeats - The article states that the Brooklyn Brewery is just experimenting with it right now.

You could probably try it at home? [see beersnob]
I would be interested in using it for marinades, broths and/or steaming some seafood? I've had some pretty interesting brews but this one would be worth trying. I will attempt to keep up to date on the info.

Final word from Oliver (the master):
"Either this will be the most amazingly disgusting thing you’ve ever tasted in your life.

Or I shall rule the earth."

I almost threw up a little in my mouth just reading the thread title.

i've had a german beer, a rauchbier, that tastes like smoked ham.

it's yummy to drink and cook with. i'm sure the bacon beer would be similar.

hmmm.... Would I try a beer flavored with bacon? That depends... Does it have beer in it? It does?! Then, YES I most definitely would!

The fact that it has bacon is just gravy, and damn near completes the food pyramid in my book!

@dmarina: I've heard of this!
The "original" brewing methods or "ancient kilning methods" where you dry the green brewer's malt over open fires, then all grains picked up smoky flavours and passed them on to the beers made from them.
